I guess he's getting advice from Kennedy. He may well have an alcohol problem on top of his other obvious issues. I don't think it's unheard of for people to take to drinking when they're struggling with emotional issues. However, if there's additional info coming out about past antics, he isn't going to get away with playing a victim in this. Have to wait and see what the FBI turns up.
That said, if all there is are the emails - bad enough, certainly, but not the end of the world, despite the political mileage the Dems will attempt to gain from it. The only plus side politically is that Dems always tend to overplay their hands with things like this and end up alienating the very people they want to motivate to vote for them.
Ultimately, it's absolutely bizarre and twisted if this is all people end up talking about up to the election. There are more important items on the agenda.
Painfully, the events that led to my resignation have crystalized recognition of my longstanding significant alcohol and emotional difficulties.
I strongly believe that I am an alcoholic and have accepted the need for immediate treatment for alcoholism and related behavioral problems.
On Saturday, with the loving support of my family and friends, I made arrangements to enter a renowned in-patient facility to address my disease and related issues.
I deeply regret and accept full responsibility for the harm I have caused.
Over the weekend, I communicated extensively with one of the most respected mental health experts in Palm Beach County, Florida, who has been instrumental in counseling and assisting me.
Attorney David Roth, my good friend of four decades has been requested by me to fully and completely cooperate regarding any inquiries that may arise during my treatment.
Words cannot express my gratitude for the prayers and words of encouragement that have been conveyed to me.
Sincerely,
Mark A. Foley

I had the same thought; Kennedy has a problem, goes to rehab. Foley has a problem; goes to rehab. But only one goes to a rehab that involves his problem.

The only rehab this perv needs is a US lockup.

That very old fashioned institution of pages needs to be abolished asap. It is not a good idea to have underage boys and girls around all those horny congressmen and women.

Dan - You probably received two trackbacks from me. I changed the name of my post after I sent the first TB (from Foleygate Unfolds...). Feel free to delete.

This was 3 years ago. Isn't it possible that Foley said to the kid "good so your competing in a tourney" and the kid misremembered him as saying "good so your getting horny"?
Oh wait. It's all written down. Never mind.
