Dems Flirt With Disaster
Update: Plamegate pusher David Corn claims to have obtained a list of closeted gay GOP congressional aides which, he suggests, is being circulated by House Republicans who suspect the aides of having “helped” Foley. He concludes, naturally enough, with a veiled threat:
Anyone who knows anything, especially on the heels of the Foley incident, can tell that's a lot of BS. All one has to do is scroll the sidebar of BlogActive to know who has been compiling lists of gays in politics - including staffers.
If the brain trust that is the Democrat Party thinks it is going to blame some mass outing on the Republicans, they're foolish. And if they think such a tactic will help them win an election, they're not only ignorant and pathetic, they're dumb.
What they will come to discover is that the Right is far more tolerant than their own PR allows (Good heavens, they actually believe that crap!) and the media and moderate and Independent voters will not reward them kindly for a tactic like that. If they add Gay Bashing to their usual race baiting, it'll be a miscalculation. Unlike many blacks, Gays have ready access to the media and won't let them get away with this one.
It could actually open up the Republican Party's image more than anything else and eventually relegate the Dems to permanent minority status.
