Dems And The Gay Agenda

Funny how liberals let the Dems skate for not giving anything but lip service to many Gay Rights issues, they talk them up but never really push the way they could if they really wanted to bring about change. They hide behind the GOP ... guess that makes them sort of closeted Gay Rights supporters. But as always they are betrayed by their actions, as opposed to their rhetoric. They never hesitate from playing the Gay card to their own advantage, even when it involves targeting Gay people.

Again: Pathetic. The difference between the GOP and the Dems on gay issues nationally is vast, as Glenn knows.

Then it was Kerry's turn. And with it, he took what many consider one of the cheapest shots of this campaign. Starting with a lofty phrase picked to make him sound sincere and tolerant, he proceeded to sound anything but that.

"We're all God's children, Bob," Kerry said.

But then came the kicker: "And I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian....

There's a list going around. Those disseminating it call it "The List." It's a roster of top-level Republican congressional aides who are gay.

One of the highest profile actions warriors the Hate Mongers is Michael Rogers, who launched this blog in order to out gay staffers of legislators who support the Hate Amendment. Salon gives the effort a good writeup.

My mailbox is full of emails from angry Glenn Greenwald fans who claim I have "slandered" him by saying that he was defending the outing of gay republicans

He supported a ban on benefits for same-sex couples, as well as the Federal Marriage Amendment (which would ban same-sex marriage).

Ford isn't the only Democratic Senate candidate this cycle who is hard to tell apart from his Republican opponent: add Webb and Casey for starters. Schumer actively recruited right-of-center candidates because he thought that is what voters want. Ford and the others aren't representative of the views of actual progressives, so you using him as an example to slander Democrats in general is rather ignorant. It would be like me using Chafee as my example of what the whole Republican party believes.

As for the rest of your post, you don't make much sense. Are you really trying to suggest that Glenn Greenwald is anti-gay?

I'll suggest glenn Greenwald is anti-gay. At least anti-gay republican. I'd say anyone who outs someone for political reasons is anti-gay, and that of course, means lots of democrats this cycle. I don't Glenn denouncing that.

After all, the biggest obstacle to gays right now is DOMA, Bill clinton's initiative, supported by Hillary. Gays are nuts to vote with the democrats, unless of course they think they can't make it without the government. Luckily most gays aren't that stupid.

No, but Ford is the Democrat that Renyolds had the opportunity to vote for.

Jane,

The fact is, here in Wisconsin, we are repesented by Russ Feingold, who is a Democrat, and has openly said that he considers same sex marriages to be legitimate and will vote in favor of recognizing them as such. As does one of our representatives, Tammy Baldwin, also a Democrat. The same can't be said of the major Republican officeholders. So while the Democratic Party as a whole may be dragging its feet, there are many members of the party who vote their conscience anyway.

So, you're really off base when you say "Gays are nuts to vote with the democrats".

Funny how liberals let the Dems skate for not giving anything but lip service to many Gay Rights issues, they talk them up but never really push the way they could if they really wanted to bring about change.

Other than continually proposing legislation to deny them, what have Republicans done lately for "Gay Rights?"

what have Republicans done lately for "Gay Rights?"

You can't be serious, Foley has been all over the news. Thanks to Repubs. Gays have the right ti IM with littloe boys ... LOL

Have to say that when 70% of the country says NO to same sex marriage in their states then it is hard to conceive that Dems are gonna jump on board to redefine marriage to satisfy a minority in their party.

Dan Rhiel doesn't want people to know that he writes under the name JustOneMan at Blogcritics.org where he thinks he is free to spew his homophobia under the cloak of annonimity

So, you're really off base when you say "Gays are nuts to vote with the democrats".

I guess that depends on your perspective. Seems to me there is a lot more of importance to gays than marriage. Particularly marriage brought to you by the folks who brought us DOMA. Take a roaring economy for example.

Gays are pawns of the democrats the way blacks have been for years. Just ask Mike Rogers. Luckily the smart ones are waking up and smelling the coffee.

Huh.

Ok, it looks like you didn't read my post. Many more Democrats voted against DOMA than Republicans.

Gays are pawns of the democrats the way blacks have been for years. Just ask Mike Rogers. Luckily the smart ones are waking up and smelling the coffee.

The fact is, most people who identify as gay still lean left, despite your wishes to the contrary. Are you calling them stupid?

Yeah it was Bill Clinton's gift to homophobia. Go Bill!

The fact is, most people who identify as gay still lean left, despite your wishes to the contrary. Are you calling them stupid?

I think voting against your self-interest is stupid. Dems are much more likely to pass legislation that gives government an inroad into your bedroom. So yeah, I am.

"Dems are much more likely to pass legislation that gives government an inroad into your bedroom. So yeah, I am."

O RLY?

Who is it who thinks that the government should have the power to arrest people for having relations with people of the same sex? I think that was George Bush when he was governor of Texas!

As did Rick Santorum for that matter.

Can you name even one Democrat who is holding office now who believes as such? Bill Clinton sure as heck didn't.
