Why confront the militant shia in Iran, may as well let them and the Sunni contingent blow the hell out of one another and hope we aren't caught in the crossfire, right?
Hopefully this is mostly bluff and bluster designed to take some of the heat off the Bush administraion by emphasizing the danger of a nuclear Iran. And this should be thrown right in the face of the pacifist, non-proliferation types who never want to take responsibility for their reckless policies.
Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa said Arab countries decided at a meeting on Wednesday to seek nuclear energy. The decision was made at a time of sensitivity about nuclear issues in the region, as the United States accuses Iran of having a secret program to develop atomic weapons while Arab states say Israel already poses such a threat.
"The Arab states, as members of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, have decided to use the right granted them, and for which they entered the agreement, to use nuclear energy peacefully," said Moussa. (Reuters)

I remember a time when school children were taught to duck under their desks and cover up if they ever saw the "white light", ie. a nuclear explosion, and I'm beginning to think that there are some folks out there who still really believe that will work.
