Talk Of War Over Pope's Speech
Yes, apparently that's what some of the headlines and more outlandish op-eds are saying in the Middle East.
The most extreme opinion was voiced by Hani Pahas in the London-based Arabic-language daily newspaper Al-Hayat, who wrote “the pope’s comments may lead to war; we fear that the pope’s statements may lead to a war that we, Muslims and Christians alike, are trying to prevent through dialogue between East and West.
Hussein Shabakshy wrote in an article published by the London-based Arabic-language newspaper al-Sharq al-Awsat “It is clear that such remarks only contribute to the fueling of the fire raging between Islam and the West. There is no difference between Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri speaking from their caves in Tora Bora and the stage of an important Christian saint. Both parties contribute to the world verbal weapons for mass destruction.”
No doubt we'll get to watch the leaders of the West, Europe and probably the Vatican placate these barbarians, instead of dusting off the bombers and firing up the reactors as we should be doing. Radicalized muslims are nothing but ignorant, degenerate self-absorbed scum. Rather than appease them, we should tell them to deal with it, or issue some threats of our own.
“These are ignorant comments previously made by Adolf Hitler, who spoke of a supreme white race against all the other races, especially the African race.
Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood said a Vatican statement on Saturday saying Pope Benedict was sorry for upsetting Muslims with his comments on Islam did not go far enough.
Hot Air has the rundown.

This whining hypocrite Hani Pahas has not heard what the pedophile Mohammed has said about us blacks, has he? "Raisin heads" was the least of it. Somebody ought to buy a huge mirror and plant it deeply in the Islamic world so that these piously bloody barbarians can see their own hypocrisy. Jews and Christians are children of monkeys, apes, and pigs, are polytheists. Is that not an insult to the Judaeo-Christian God in whose image we are made? Just so. So far, no Jew or Christian has firebombed a mosque, rioted, or slaughtered a Muslim just for being Muslim. I for one will weep no tears when hundreds of Muslims die in the riots, burnings, and shootings that will ensue when the pope refuses to apologize to this backward lot.
Meantime, I await an apology from Muslims for the slaughter they have committed against my fellow blacks in Sudan and elsewhere. I await an apology from Muslims for the slaughter against my fellow Christians wherever we are found in their midst, and even in our own lands. I also await an apology from Muslims for the slaughter of 3,000 of my fellow citizens here in the U.S. However, I will not hold my breath awaiting its arrival. For, the mind of the Muslim runs on this track: "We Muslims have a right and duty to kill you. The only right you have is to submit to slaughter. If you fight back, you are making war against Islam, and we will become enraged and kill you."

"...we fear that the pope’s statements may lead to a war that we, Muslims and Christians alike, are trying to prevent through dialogue between East and West.
'..trying to prevent through dialogue'? Make me laugh. Don't Bogart that head, asshole.
I'm glad this is happening. This is perfect. Nothing better than contrast to make those who have been blind to see the light. The Pope did the right thing to begin with and I secretly hoped he'd flip the world the finger, but the reality is he showed grace. Grace vs. Violence. How perfect to demonstrate what 'real' dialogue should be like and who has the high ground in that dialogue. Maybe this was the script sent by God to wake a few people up.

These people are so full of shit. Did they even read the Pope's remarks?

"Did they even read the Pope's remarks?"
These people have the collective intellectual capacity of a 4 year-old. ...with high-caliber weapons. Wouldn't have mattered if they had read it or not. They do not grasp context. They only saw "Mohammed" and "evil and inhuman", then put 2 and 2 together and arrived at riot.
Last winter, the Grand Ayatollah Khamieni declared that the reason Jyllands Posten commissioned drawings of Mohammed in September of 2005 was because the evil west was upset that Hamas had won the Palestinian elections in February of 2006.
And the people bought it.
When they can't figure out how to use a bronze-age invention called "calendar", do you really think they're capable of figuring out "contextual analysis"?

OK, now the muslims (small m intentionally) have another excuse to take time off from productive work – the Popes speech.
Those ignorant, uninformed, led by the noses folks masquerading as religious groups were told to demonstrate, burn the Pope in effigy and hold up printed signs in English so the liberal media would have something to put on the six o’clock news.
Another response to the speech was to burn churches and murder a nun..so far. What a way to debate an academic topic.
Now, what did Pope Benedict do that so outraged these idiots. Nothing is the proper answer. If it was such an atrocious bit of verbiage one must ask … why did it take so long for the demonstrations to begin? Those in the muslim community that are in charge of finding excuses to complain about the western civilizations were slow AND then they had to tell the ignorant masses it was a bad thing.. they (the masses) still do not know why. Hey, its another day off.
Here’s what happened, Benedict gave a speech. A speech in an academic setting. He quoted the words of a fourteenth century Byzantine emperor. How much more boring can that get? Apparently this Byzantine guy said something we all came to find out is true… they probably had it right in 1300 but just did not fix the problem. From what I can gleam from the news reports the Pope’s speech, in context, did NOT use this to demean, slander, insult or to otherwise provoke anyone or any group.
At this point we ask – What did the Pope do wrong?
Answer…. He apologized more than once. No need to apologize for proper conduct. Hey Pope, stop apologizing and just go back to work BUT double up on the Swiss guards. Remember the religion of the guy that shot your predecessor and he didn’t give that speech. They don’t need a reason to demonstrate or shoot…just an excuse..
