Pundita links to a John Batchelor article in The NY Sun and addresses the issue of the Pope's apology in an informed manner.
But now that it's clear, Pundita has trouble understanding why the Pope apologized. Let us hope that he was sorry only that his statements were misunderstood. Yet as Batchelor points out, the Pope's major point is hard to miss:
Spreading the faith by the sword is evil and inhuman.
Of course it's all too human but to call it religion -- well, that kind of religion inevitably begets someone like Genghis Khan.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone had reasonably attempted to answer the Emporer's question? To date, as far as I know, it remains unanswered. I suppose there's a reason for that....

Personally I belive the pope ment no offence by this statment. But all the mullas did. My question is: If islam is so peacefull why have they firebombed several churches, kill a nun and rioted over this? Also look at the reaction over the mohammad cartoons. You did not see Christians killing, bombing or rioting when some socalled artist put a cross in a vat of urine. And what has the muslim nations provided the world lately, besides sucide bombers and burkas?
