Osama bin Laden Dead?

Update: The French have not confirmed the report but said it was launching an iquiry into the leaked report.

PARIS (Reuters) - France's Defence Ministry said on Saturday a secret service report saying al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden had died could not be confirmed but said it would launch an inquiry into the leak of secret documents.

"The information published this morning in the L'Est Republicain newspaper relating to the supposed death of Osama bin Laden cannot be confirmed," the Defence Ministry said in a statement.

"The Defence Minister has asked that an inquiry be carried out to determine the origin of the leak that can be punished by criminal charges."

There's a legitimate but unconfirmed news story breaking that Osama bin Laden has died from Typhoid Fever in Pakistan. The news is said to have come from the Saudi Police to the French, where it was leaked.

Ace has the full story.

I checked and Pakistan does have a Typhoid issue, as does the rest of the developing world. There are a few other issues of note that could support this.

If bin Laden has been subject to living in very basic conditions, that's one factor which would contribute to the possibility of contracting the disease. Pakistan has also had some cases which have been resistant to the usual anti-biotics.

We report a case of ciprofloxacin treatment failure in a typhoid fever patient at a tertiary care hospital in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. This case shows not only the emergence of fluoroquinolone resistance in typhoid salmonellae but also the inadequacy of the current laboratory guidelines for detection of this resistance.

There is a vaccine, however if bin Laden had kidney problems, as has been suggested, I'm not sure what impact that might have as regards taking the vaccine. But if he contracted the disease, any existing kidney problem would certainly make it more difficult to survive a serious infection.

January 02 -- ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistan's president says he thinks Osama bin Laden is most likely dead because the suspected terrorist has been unable to get treatment for his kidney disease.

"I think now, frankly, he is dead for the reason he is a ... kidney patient," Gen. Pervez Musharraf said on Friday in an interview with CNN.

WHERE CAN WE SEND FLOWERS?

May he rot in hell................ unfortunately, even hell is to good for this bastige.

Although it pissed me off the other day, the US not bombing a suspected burial site, funeral where at least 150 talaban members gathered, maybe they knew more than they have let on. Could this have been the burial sight of OBL?

Just a rumor started by the CIA to get OBL to deny it and perhaps to get another clue as to where he is.

I just don't have much to say right now, but I guess it doesn't bother me. Basically nothing seems worth thinking about. Nothing notable happening these days. Shrug. Not that it matters. My mind is like a void. I've basically been doing nothing , not that it matters. More or less nothing going on. I guess it doesn't bother me. Not much on my mind.

Not much on my mind right now. I haven't been up to anything. Today was a complete loss. That's how it is. Not much exciting going on these days.
