Unfortunately, it's way too late for the drummer's Mother. Jim Gordon killed her with a hammer in the eighties after being diagnosed with acute paranoid schizophrenia. Carl Perkins comes in at the end, as does Cash. I imagine most know the tragedy that befell the lead guitarist.

Yay!!! What a treat! :)

HOW COOL IS THAT? NEVER SAW A LIVE CUT OF THAT ONE... SPEAKING OF JIM GORDON, IT'S HARD TO COMPREHEND HOW THE GUY WHO SINGLE HANDEDLY WROTE THE BEAUTIFUL PIANO CLOSING TO LAYLA (DESPITE BEING A DRUMMER) COULD ALSO HAVE IT IN HIS MAKEUP TO BEAT HIS MOM TO DEATH WITH A HAMMER. SOMETHING I'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND.

I didn't know Gordon wrote the ending to Layla. I'd only heard the short version of Layla until one day my best friend and I went for one of our regular mountain rides to smoke pot and listen to homemade tapes. He'd taped the long version of Layla, and it flowed into the finale just as we crested the Blue Ridge Mountains right at that moment with the evening sun setting down over the ridge..... One of the cooler moments of music that my mind can conjure up completely in an instant. I was awed.
Thanks for mentioning it.
(Yeah, it is hard to understand the mix of genius and psychosis, but it is not that uncommon.)
