Update: Yeah, it's probably sick. Unfortunately, so are some of these. And unfortunately, there will probably be more like the ones below to come. Some people seem to have no sense of perspective, or understand that there are some things more important than politics. No doubt the parents of these children will appreciate your concern, assuming they are Democrats. Obviously, if they are Republicans, I suppose their children deserved it, too.
Emptywheel / The Next Hurrah: GOP Foxes Guarding the Under-Aged Hen-House
On ABC tonight and I'm thinking they aren't going to be pretty.
Hours earlier, ABC News had read excerpts of instant messages provided by former male pages who said the congressman, under the AOL Instant Messenger screen name Maf54, made repeated references to sexual organs and acts.
In a statement, Foley said, "I am deeply sorry and I apologize for letting down my family and the people of Florida I have had the privilege to represent."
The full details will be included in a report tonight on ABC World News with Charles Gibson.

With the Foley and DeLay seats in the bag, only 13 more to go...

"My first comment below was - 1 down 13 to go. Some folks need to get a life. There's nothing worth celebrating about the possibility that someone in power was preying on the young."
What is worth celebrating is the removal of another corrupt member from Congress. With Foley gone, DeLay gone, Ney gone, and Cunningham gone, the people's house is a better place.
Soon Denny Hastert will be gone from the Speaker's chair, and America will be a better place.
You folks had an impressive 12 year run. Now it's time to turn the government back over to people who aren't trying to destroy the government.

No doubt that Jefferson should be gone too.
But if your point is that Dems comprise 20% of the insupportable members, while the GOP comprises 80% of the insupportable members, I'd be more than happy to sign your petition.

My point is that most either Dem or Rep have issues....no excuse for Foley's behavior though...none what so ever.
Maybe it's time for term limits for all of them...I doubt the founding fathers figure members of congress were gonna make a career there.

It seems Foley has a website, go to search engine Alta Vista, Image, put in maf54, and a image of a cartoon of a girl comes up, and up comes the website with the Name Mary Foley! I wonder how many other good Republicans are in the Foley Club! Why did Google have nothing?
