It appears Britain is talking about implementing such a screening technique. It's about time. If moderate Muslims won't stand up more forcefully against their more radical and dangerous counterparts, then let them feel some heat.
Sane Muslims can have a far greater impact in combating Islamo-fascists than any other particular group. To date, they absolutely have not done their part. It's time to start giving them incentive, along with sending them the message that we will not ignore the source of much of the worlds terrorism.
Enough with the PC nonsense of checking someone's grandmother when our resources can be far more effectively employed by focusing on the group most likely to ....
THE Government is discussing with airport operators plans to introduce a screening system that allows security staff to focus on those passengers who pose the greatest risk.
The passenger-profiling technique involves selecting people who are behaving suspiciously, have an unusual travel pattern or, most controversially, have a certain ethnic or religious background.
The system would be much more sophisticated than simply picking out young men of Asian appearance. But it would cause outrage in the Muslim community because its members would be far more likely to be selected for extra checks.

Dan,
I think you, like many, are drinking "appeasement kool-aid". There truly are no moderate Muslims. Islam is not a "religion" as we in the West have come to define the term in the last 400 or 500 years. Islam truly is an unreformed 7th Century totalitarian belief system not unlike the partnership of the Catholic church and monarchs in the Dark Ages. Power is maintained by subjugation of the mind and spirit. To these Muslim barbarians the Enlightment was regressive.
A better formula adjectivally, imho, would be to use words like "apostate", "heretical" or, more neutrally, "unorthordox".
Thanks for your great work. I read you 2 or 3 times a day...when you post.

Boo-frickin-hoo. The Muslim community's members are far more likey to be responsible for terrorist acts. Sounds fair to me.

How do you not profile?
Besides, at this point I've got to think that just about everybody in the US or UK is profiling on their own individual level. I mean, if you see a middle-eastern decent male, what runs through your mind?
I really don't think modern muslims are going to stand up at all.
