Lebanon May Not Comply With UN Resolution
Update: The battle rages and Hezbollah is digging in on not giving up its weapons south of the Litani.
Update: They are talking about re-grouping in two days. That's after the current deadline for the cease fire. It didn't take long for this one to unravel - another indication of how removed UN rhetoric is from the reality on the ground.
Imagine the spot in which Nasrallah now finds himself. He's been speaking out as though he were party to the agreement, which in itself is a disgraceful bow by the UN to a terrorist. Now, to hold up his end, he would have to have Hezbollah put down their weapons while Israel is all over Southern Lebanon.
He can't do that and save face. If he doesn't, the agreement's off and it's his fault. Unfortunately, that won't be the victory some think, because the Arab world won't spin it that way. They will continue to blame Israel and want them to leave Lebanon, in effect siding with Hezbollah.
Such doings are the reason negotiating with terrorists is always a waste of time. If Olmert had any real strength, he'd use this as reason to unleash the IDF even more. Too bad Israel has such weak leadership at such a critical time.
It's quite possible the war between Israel and Hezbollah will go on just as it has been. Lebanon has postponed a key cabinet meeting over the disarmament of Hezbollah. If Hezbollah doesn't disarm, the agreement is dead.
See here, here and CQ has picked it up, as well.
A critical Lebanese Cabinet meeting set for Sunday to discuss implementation of the cease-fire between Israel and Hizbullah was postponed, a move that was likely to delay the dispatch of the Lebanese army to the south and an end of the fighting.
A top aide to Prime Minister Fuad Saniora said the meeting had been indefinitely postponed but would give no reason. Published reports said the Cabinet, which approved the cease-fire unanimously Saturday night, had been sharply divided over demands in the cease-fire agreement that Hizbullah surrender its weapons in south Lebanon.
Here's the latest war news from the Middle East: Pajamas Media, or read a few regional blogs. I like to check the JP headlines, as well.

Pretty obviously, hezbollah thought they had Israel trapped. And, they were EXPECTING the knesset to veto this UN garbage. When it sailed passed. Only clipping Mofaz. Whose becoming more irrelevant than ever.
While, today, if Little Green Footballs is correct, the GREEN HELMET GUY got a few shrapnel holes in him. And, now his title has been advanced to HEAD OF THE RED CROSS IN TYRE.
Not bad to watch the MSM melting. Given the large prominence to the faux-photos. And, where Charles Johnson got Dan RaTHer in a singular opportunity. That bad show ran just once.
We're now in a season of continous giving.
Why did people lose faith in Olmert? Gosh. He and Bush not only play poker well, you can't peek at their cards. And, they give away NO TELL.
News doesn't get better. It just flows. And, the Internet is giving the MSM a run for its money. They just can't keep up. Did you notice? Gone are the days that "stop the presses" meant much less than it does today.
I'm sure the President is waiting for September. I can think of a few good reasons. Can you?
