Iranian Cartoon Contest Features Sharon In SS Uniform
How's that for an entry in Iran's Holocaust Cartoon Contest. Maybe Mike Wallace can MC the awards ceremony, as Ahmadinejad was the inspiration for the contest.
Here's the site that sponsors it.
Sharon in SS Uniform and here's a portfolio of one of the (cough cough) artists.
Also see here.
Meanwhile Charles at lgf points out that the AP chose a notorius anti-semite as a representative voice for Muslims in an article, but failed to acknowledge that. I wonder why?
And Allah is exploring yet more possible fauxtography.

It is NOT wrong for a journalist to interview the president of Iran. Nor is it "disloyal" somehow.
I have no doubt the CIA considers it helpful and useful. Getting insights into this madman's thought processes can only help us. It would help if you wingnuts would look at the bigger picture for a change.

The key point here, I think, is that Jews won't riot all over the world, kill Christians and torch buildings.. "Why would they?" you ask? They wouldn't, but Muslims DID after the Mohammad cartoons... remember? It went on for weeks, how could you forget.

No, it is not "wrong" to interview the President of Iran, nor is it disloyal. But it is foolish if you get used for his propaganda and nothing worthwhile to show for it.
Whether the CIA got anything out of this I do not know. Other posts on this site and elsewhere list questions that would have been more helpful, such as, "We hear that you think there was no 'Holocost', no mass slaughter of Jewish people under Hitler, tell us your thoughts, please." Instead we get (Rough paraphrase with inclusion of what was left unsaid):
Q: "What do you think of President Bush, the 'so-called' Commander-in-Chief of the Free World?"
A: "Just as you said."
(Q): "I don't understand..."
(A): "You referred to him as the 'so-called' leader, I agree, I don't think he is much of a leader...

All totalitarian regimes have freedom of speech when you are agreeing with them. You were very free to say anything you wanted in favour of Hitler in Germany in the late 30's. Tolerance is tested when a population and a state are willing to hear non-complimentary comments and still feel they have a right to exist. And cartoons denying the Holocaust and a contest for them has every right to exist to test the tolerance of the West. Yes, the Jews will not riot because they are in a position of power and a few cartoons will not upset them. Muslims, however, have been targeted in the former Yugoslavia, in Palestine, in Lebanon, in Iraq, ... and Western media elicited the reaction that it knew it would get by publishing those cartoons. Enjoy the holocaust denying cartoons as an alternative to riots.
