Just reported on Fox News. According to Jeff Goldblatt, they shot it down somewhere near Haifa.
DefenseTech has been worried about this for months, calling terror drones “suicide bombers on steroids.”
This may rachet things up a notch. Israel can't afford to have that technology in hostile hands close to its border without at least considering addressing the state that produced and supplied it.
For now, there's some confusion around where it was headed. See Hot Air for more.
A friend of a friend blogs from Israel - check it out.
Here's the latest war news from the Middle East: Pajamas Media, or read a few regional blogs. I like to check the JP headlines, as well.

Dan- have you noticed the lack of comments from all your war postings? Maybe you need to find a different subject. Appears no one is really interested in national news.

This is obviously an Israeli over-reaction. After all, as the folks who have examined Saddam's arsenal noted, Iraq was only able to deploy drones with regional capability. The idea that those could threaten the US was silly. And, of course, therefore US interests were also, by definition, unthreatened.
That Saddam might have tried to strike at Israel (as he did in '91), or that he might have handed over drone technology to third parties (including terrorist groups) of course need not be considered. After all, just as Syria is a secular state, and therefore would never assist Hizb'allah, so Saddam, heading a secular state, would never assist a terrorist group like Hizb'allah or Hamas.

I am willing to predict that the confrontation between Israel and her enemies will escalate, and there will be no UN military force who will be able to keep the peace. And don't forget there are quite a few suitcase nukes floating around.
But don't worry folks, as I keep saying,
Good old European Union Directive No 666, The Most High Representative, Dr Javier Solana will step in at the last min and sort it all out, thus setting up a false peace, which the Israeli's will buy into, and by letting down her defences will set herself up to be well and truly hammered the next time!!
After all Solana is the leader of the ten nation Western European Union Alliance, and that means that he does have a large army at his disposal.
And just wait, everybody will be saying what a good old boy he is!!
Perhaps then they will stop calling him a European Union Administrator!
Joke or what, he is probably the most powerful man in the World, and what makes him so dangerous is that hardly anybody has twigged onto it yet!!

Who's to say. For all the regurgitation of history and pondering the endless what-if's, one thing has been left out that might be the crucial factor in how this all ends: Human nature.
If history has shown us anything, it is that the Israelis have been human fodder forever. It has also shown us that wars fought over some mystical ramblings of religious fervour go on forever.
One side is going to say - Enough. That would be the Israelis. The Islamic fundamentalists cannot conceive of the notion of taking it on the chin time and time again and suddenly refusing to turn the other cheek.
As for the EU - they're scared to death. Letting Muslims move in and set up shop has them hog-tied and enfeebled.
