In the wake of today's awkward announcement from CBS that they did indeed alter an image of new CBS Anchor Katie Couric to make her look slimmer, I received the image at right from an unnamed source who claimed to have absolutely no affiliation with Katie Couric, or CBS' Public Relations arm under any circumstances.
The image is said to include a once widely circulated newsroom image of former anchor Rather, (Left) which had also been re-touched, but with Rather's approval, placed next to an image (Right) said to be the original.
"Everyone at CBS always new Rather was a much bigger ass than the network allowed people to see, you never once saw him from behind, now did you?" said the source.
A spokesperson for Rather said the former anchor was unavailable for comment, having recently enrolled in a crash course in vblogging. They went on to suggest that we may be seeing a great deal more of Mr. Rather in the future.
Update: Heavens, I didn't think Katie ate ice cream? However will she keep her 7,8 or however many figures they're paying her. Another post for you via Jim Treacher.

So which Dan Rather photo is the 'Fake but accurate' version?
(I can't believe no one else has posted some version of that joke yet)

Dan was/is one sick puppy. How he kept his job for so many years is beyond me. He must have had compromising photos of some CBS execs, is my working theory.

Fat bastard.

The "fat" picture is the one that seems to be photoshopped. Note that Rather's suspenders are not a constant width but get larger at the bottom. Also his tie seems much too wide.
Curiously, his left sleeve is smaller in the "fat" picture.

The one on the right is obviously the doctored one. Someone on the right simply stretched the photo, the same way rightwingers often stretch the truth. You can tell just by looking at the distorted sheet of paper. Boy, what an intellectual and thought provoking blog I've stumbled on...
