The sad part, or is it, we won't execute him or behead him on the spot for simply being a terrorist?

No, that's not sad. We're not a bunch of Iranian mullahs here.

I'm not willing to betray my faith in justice for the sake of seeing his brains on the sidewalk, although I would have cheered anyone who had been carrying at the time stopping this freak on the spot. Personally I'm glad no officer will have to face some committee to see if the use of deadly force was justified.

I'm ignorant of the laws of Washington state. Is it legal to conceal and carry? Do they have the death penalty? Can this be considered a federal crime?

I understand the desire to criticize police for not coming out and saying it is what it is, but why should they hand a defense attorney a motion to dismiss or change venue due to a prejudiced potential jury?

Reading more about this suspect: "Court records show Haq has a charge of lewd conduct pending against him in Benton County." If investigators are wise, they'd track his Friday afternoon activities to determine whether this act was one of atonement.

"Haq had a license to carry a concealed weapon." You don't say... so concealed carry IS legal in Washington.

"A man who answered the door at the Haq family's house Friday night said the house was a federal crime scene." Ahh it gets better and better.

Let's hope these federal investigators can connect the dots between his lewd conduct three months ago, his delayed hearing on Thursday, his Friday activities (whatever they may have been) and his hostage taking and murdering. I'd be curious to know when he got his permit, too.
