Lieberman Announces Petition Drive
While the Left Wing of the Democrat Party may be celebrating the thought of ousting Lieberman in a primary, I think the reaction of the real Democrat power structure will do more to send shock waves through the blogosphere than a Lieberman primary loss.
I predict the Party will look to change its primary process if they find it begins to betray their big umbrella mantra of the past. They can't survive as a political party if what amounts to an experiment, energizing the Far Left through he blogosphere, sets a tone that dooms Democrats to minority status for the foreseeable future.
Either that, or the Democrat Party may simply fade away. And there are insiders inside the Party acknowledging the latter possibility because of what a few wealthy liberals have wrought. More on that on Wednesday.
Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman announced today he will petition for a place on the November ballot as an "independent Democrat," giving him a chance to stay alive politically should he lose an Aug. 8 primary for the Democratic nomination.
Lieberman, 64, a three-term senator whose outspoken support of the war in Iraq has brought months of grief and inspired a strong primary challenge from Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont, announced his decision this afternoon at a brief press conference at the State Capitol.
Update: Liberal Moron Alert:
The Ned Lamont Blog decided to announce Senator Joe Lieberman's decision to begin a petition signing process in case he needs to run as an independent Democrat with this handy phrase:
Today, Joe Lieberman cut-and-ran from the Democratic party on the slowest news day of the summer.
A majority of voters and even Democrat legislators understand we can't simply cut and run in Iraq. It's incredibly stupid for the Lamont Blog to remind moderate voters that's precisely the DOA policy Lamont is attempting to ride into the Senate. Doh!

Say it ain't not so, Joe!
