Well, they can and do - they just can't accept it. Now they are demanding a hand recount in the Bilbray Busby race. But I found a little tid bit from this "non-partisan" objective Democrat who is leading the charge. Seems she's also a big fan of RFK, Jr.'s election analysis - so saith her letter to the New York Times:
A Cause Undermined
It's offensive that The New York Times chose to run an important story about the suppression and manipulation of the vote in the 2004 election in Sunday Styles. This gossipy piece is designed to undermine the seriousness of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s well-referenced article in Rolling Stone.
Gail Jacobson
San Diego, Calif.
BradBlog and the DU folks are already starting to foam at the mouth. Story below from the North County Times. They won't stop until they tear democracy completely down.
In her letter to Registrar Mikel Haas, San Diego resident Barbara Gail Jacobson said she was making the request because, "there were widespread and profound breaches of security allowed in the administration of this election."
She said that because Haas had permitted some of the voting machines to be taken home by poll workers in the days leading up to the election, "both state and federal certification of the machines were invalidated and rendered null."
In a Thursday phone interview, Jacobson said that while she is a registered Democrat, she would be making the same request even if a Democrat had won the election.
"I feel this is beyond party lines," Jacobson said. "If we can't vote people in and out of office who we chose, then we can no longer say we live in a democracy."
Haas was not available for comment Thursday. A spokesman for his office said that Haas was out of town due to a family emergency.
However, in an earlier interview, Haas had said there was nothing unusual about allowing the machines to be taken home and that the practice is widespread across the state. He said that registrars allow poll precinct captains to take the machines home so they will be able to set up the polling stations early on the day of the election.

Come to think of it, ALL voting paraphenalia is distributed PRIOR TO elections, so on election day that can be set up at sites where elections are held.
I guess the idea that this paraphenalia then resides in private homes actually misses the point. The only way around this is to vote by mail. And, send in votes the same way you send in your IRS forms.
But the donks have enough lawyers, now, to complain until the man in the moon comes down and votes, as well, I guess? They're really not winning in any other fashion.
I've even heard that in Pennsylvania there are worries that Dean is spending DNC money "to get out the vote." And, that the drive is looking to be successful. EXCEPT THAT PEOPLE WON'T BE VOTING THE PARTY TICKET FOR THEM! So they worry that democratic districts can fall to GOP incursions; without the GOPsters expending a dime to get out the vote in those areas.
Too bad for the donks the MSM can't even get a good (though flawed), campaign going. Since I don't care if there is a recount on Bilbray! The SOB lied. Got to Congress. And, immediately voted FOR pork! Campaigning against pork is just for campaign promises, I guess?
This was Cunningham's old seat, remember? Sometimes, there's nothing to do but dance.
