Reports indictate they've taken control of Maroun al-Ras. They're also allowing aid into Lebanon through the ports as more Lebanese are fleeing the battle space.
Still great links to follow the war news: Pajamas Media, or read a few regional blogs. I like to check the JP headlines, as well.

The regional blogs were a good read. Kind of odd reading someone who with Israeli arty falling all around, still blames hezbollah for what is happening in his country. It is a tough perspective to keep...that this war is the Israelis vs a terrorist group in someone elses country. Kind of like your neighbor from across the street and the guy behind you fist fighting in your living room..........when you invited neither over. You can't help but feel for the Lebanese. If the UN was anything more than a joke this could have been avoided. When the hezzies are crushed, will Israel help rebuild?

will Israel help rebuild?
I suspect that's part of Condi's mission - to get the Saudi's and others to pitch in in that regard. I don't think she's going to talk cease fire directly, but attempt to build a new Arab coalition around anti-Hez anti-Iran sentiment. That's the speculation around I've seen. You need someone besides Iran and Syrian to step in to help Lenanon after the war - and much of it should come from the region that's more aligned with the West.

Go Israel-They are the only ones with indisputable common sense in that area.

a simple anecdote helps in understanding this war.
Your neighbor, north of your place, has raised a pack of wolves for about 20 years. He has nurtured and sheltered them.
Those wolves have harmed your children and threaten to wipe out you and yours.
Your neighbor to the north considers his wolves to be his family and will not or can not restrain them.
There is a court order, UN Resolution 1559, that demands that you refrain from hunting wolves, do not pursue them onto your nieghbors property and that the neighbor remove the wolves from the County.
You comply with the order, your neighbor does not. The Sherrif of your County does nothing while the wolves roam onto your place and harm your children.
Isreal is hunting rabid wolves. Period.
Perhaps over simplified but not political.
Hey Lebanon: Fear the Hunter!

Great anecdote, Old Trooper! I tell exactly the same one to all the Israeli ney-sayers, except mine has snakes instead of wolves, and I never forget to mention "baby snakes" which I don't mind putting out of their misery early in life..... :=)

Gee no one called for a UN resolution when Hezbollah continued its terrorism after they ignored the first UN resolution?
The UN (UNpunished Nazis) should be tried and punished as war criminals. These brown-shirts who support Islamic terrorists over Jews should see the same fate as those did at Nuremburg Trials
