Do you know me? Even though I am a NY Times best selling author, and a Constitutional scholar who practiced law for ..., well, in New York, people often confuse me with someone else.
Okay, actually, most people have never heard of me, given that it was more of a well-timed political stunt designed to help the Democrats and undermine America's National Security. I mean, it wasn't like Jaws or anything. Besides, I live in Brazil, so no skin off my nose on the security front.
But, the thing is, even people that know me often get me confused with someone else! Hell, even I seem to get me confused with someone else. That's why I carry the Un-American Express Card. Now, if I get a late night hankering for a ride on a banana boat, or maybe a sac of Brazil Nuts ... I don't even have to worry about carrying cash.
Un-American Express ... don't leave Rio without it. Because you never know when people are going to wonder who the hell you really are. And Patterico might not be available to splain it all, com-padre!

It would be an understatement to say I am hugely impressed by Patterico's work; but I am also very impressed by the commenters who have followed this story. There was no gloating or invective or overly harsh calumny towards Greenwald. I think the tone of the commentary is a testament to the brilliance of the work. Sometimes we are more polite when we are awed. It is a testament, as well, to the decency that is inherent in those who care about the truth.

Well, maybe a little bit of gloating. What, is that a text-only browser you got over there, Phoenix?

ha ha ha.... No. I just went to read Patterico's thing after reading forty threads at Daily Kos.
Seriously, though, I was impressed by the commenters. The puppets were hilarious.

I just love the way (sorry, couldn't resist) you did the Un-American Express Card.

I spent some time over at Greenwald's site today. I had given some of his stuff a cursory read but today I wanted to give him a fair chance and set out to follow his arguments.
I couldn't get past the first paragraph. He simply had to resort to broadbased generalizations and interpretations of others' work that were bordering on delusional. There was very little "there" there.
The truth will out. Sock puppets or no, he just doesn't cut it. I will say this though: That doesn't stop his readers from eating it up and defending his positions. That is a mystery that I find particularly interesting, and have no idea how to explain it. And they in turn are every bit as fatuous and emotional as he is.
