Via The Weekly Standard, Dean Barnett points out the current problems at DailyKos as a result of the current war in the Middle East.
Perhaps sensing that this issue could highlight just how far removed the Kos community is from the American mainstream, Moulitsas and his other front-page bloggers have opted to ignore Israel's war. Combined, the half dozen front-pagers have written exactly one post on the subject. And that post, authored by Moulitsas, simply declared that he wouldn't write anything further on the subject. So while the most important story of the year develops, the nation's leading progressive blog has chosen to focus on the Indiana second district House race between Chris Chocola and Joe Donnelly. Nothing wrong with that; it's their prerogative to blog about whatever they like.
Barnett goes on to point out the traditional and significant role of Jewish and pro-Israel voters within the Democrat Party. Now take them from the mix that is the Democrat Party as represented by DailyKos.
As recently pointed out, DailyKos is also anti-Congressional Black Caucus. Part of the reasoning cited has to do with a large number of Black voters who attend church and often vote conservatively on social issues. So, take them from the mix that is the Democrat Party as represented by DailyKos.
Perhaps the single largest remaining Democrat constituency is the blue collar vote as exemplified by middle and even upper middle class income households where one, or even two incomes are generated by reasonably well-paid union members, everything from teachers to government workers and the skilled trades. It's hard to see that constituency buying into a platform which is very pro-immigration, as ultimately the impact of increased immigration will result in a lowering of wages among the middle class. Once the financial ramifications of that immigration stance hits home, scratch that segment from the Democrat Party as represented by the DailyKos.
In the final analysis, what's actually left but some small number of old and new McGovernite peace-niks and some group of whatever with too much time on their hands who happened to find a place to rant political and basically hang out?
If the new face of the Democrat Party is best represented by DailyKos, it's difficult to imagine there will be any there there at all by the time they get through.

Kos is quiet now.Hillary's people have given him a time limit to come on board. He's deciding whether he wants to support herself, or get squashed like the cockroach he is.Warner doesn't know it yet, but the astrologer is his kiss of death. Hillary can't win the presidency but she can completely destroy her demo competition. I hope it comes down to herself and the french guy.

The Donks are self destructing. Rove sees victory with the Donks tieing the Kos albatros around their own necks.

He's not posting about Israel because his readers don't know where it is. They aren't even old enough to vote. Why do people care that clown?

The KosKids are analogous to Germany's Wanderjugend. In the 30's they could weep over a crushed Adelweis, or if called upon, beat up a couple of Jewish shopkeepers. Romanticism and brutality, side by side. A party which caters to them is already corrupt, and if Hillary is bargaining for their support, she's even more loathesome than I thought.
