Chris Bowers at MyDD takes on the recent statements coming out of the moderate DLC with the help of Hillary Clinton. Unfortunately for Chris, while he is indeed pointing out certain arguable flaws in the messaging:
The habit of the Democratic Party to kill itself via self-referential meta-talk was on full display at the DLC meeting yesterday. Tell me if you can find what is wrong with the message coming out of the conference. From the Mercury News:
I don't think he realizes that he's also pointing out why the Netroots approach isn't much of a cure:
If you are going to talk about faith, then talk about faith. There is no need to preface your discussion of faith with a statement that Democrats need to talk more about faith....
If you are going to talk about national security, then talk about national security. ...
How can the Netroots talk about faith to middle-America when DailyKos has posts wanting to toss the Congressional Black Caucus because too many of them go to church?
How can the Netroots talk to the Nation about National Security, when one of their newest stars, Glenn Greenwald, built his reputation by maliciously and over-aggressively trying to tear elements of our National Security down - elements which, like it or not, many Americans support?
The reality is, to hold many of its factions together, Democrats, especially the Netroots can't talk about where they really stand for without losing broad support. And if you don't believe that, try asking Joe Lieberman - the latest victim of the naive Netroot's all or nothing attacks.

Why do the democrats keep insisting on reminding us of what we need? Are we stupid? They act as if we are all stupid.
They overuse the word 'should'. As if they have the moral superiority to tell us what we need. They make lists of things we need. We don't need reminders. We have it all right there, just where it's always been - in front of that banner called freedom, liberty, democracy, and PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY to reach out and grab the American Dream. Otherwise known as individualism or intitiative or desire to improve one's station by taking advantage of a free education. Boot-strap stuff.
Democrats have thought-apnea.
