Michele Malkin is reporting on what appears to be a high profile deserter, 1st Lt. Ehren Watada.
I opted for another route of investigation after reading this and this.
Watada's Father is a high profile pseudo-political figure who has gone after many Democrat and Republican government officials in his former role as Director of Hawaii's Campaign Spending Commission.
Not just a war protester, he was also a member of the Peace Corp. All well and good - but take a look at this from an old Peace Corp On Line forum circa 2004. The information lines up with bio information in the articles linked above.
By Robert Watada (166.122.121.189) on Tuesday, June 01, 2004 - 09:55 pm: Edit
I am a RPCV 1964 Peru. Last year I visited Peru twice and wherever I went, friends, relatives, and people of all walks of life expressed disgust with "Bushy" and it was impossible to disagree. Their perception of the USA is like a "Rambo". "Have gun, am right." Whatever good the Peace Corps did forty years ago in developing good will has now been destroyed. We eliminated the myth that we were CIA henchmen out to get the communistas.
We are now obsessed with a "terrorist" behind every tree, as we were obsessed with a "communist" around every corner forty-five years ago. We need to start somewhere to make a change. Bob Watada

He's a 1st Lieutenant for cripes sake. What is he frightened of - catching syphilis from the Kuwaiti hookers being passed about in the Green Zone? It's not like he's going to be riding a Stryker into combat or anything.

"Whatever good the Peace Corps did forty years ago in developing good will has now been destroyed."
The Peace Corp destroyed goodwill entirely on their own.
Y'see, no matter how backward some folks are, they resent having others come in and tell them how they have to do things. It's fine to go dig wells and build houses, but when that comes with sermons on how to treat women, it suddenly becomes "cultural warfare". When it comes with sermons on how to treat minorities -- that culture's traditional enemies -- it becomes treason. When it comes with sermons on how to treat the environment, it is more cultural warfare.
This goes to the inane bickering about how the US responds to the AIDS crisis in Africa. The liberal model of condoms and family planning, or the conservative model of abstinence. Both are US busybodies telling them how to have sex, and how many kids to have, and they resent them both. It's only us who sees a difference in the two.

What exactly did you expose about Bob Watada? That he is an honest
government worker who is cleaning up corruption in government. I can see how a Republican would take issue with that, since they are the source of 95% of the corruption in the federal government.
Or was it that Watada is not afraid to speak his mind to criticize an obviously corrupt and incompetent President. I can see how a Republican would take issue with that, since they shit on the constitution on a daily basis.
Thanks for exposing yourself as a supporter of criminal corruption and war crimes.
