I wouldn't be surprised if the group claims this isn't their doing and it's actually an Israeli intelligence operation meant to justify any possible incursion into Gaza. In any event, I fail to see the wisdom in announcing one has such weaponry if you haven't or aren't intending to use it. It doesn't make sense.
But then few things along the border between Israel and Palestine ever do. Stay tuned. But I would anticipate Israel going into Gaza in an attempt to rescue its missing soldier without seeing any chemical attack in response. If the militants launch any form of WMD against Israel, all bets are off - and their days are likely numbered - with a very low number, at that.
The Aksa Martyrs' Brigades group announced on Sunday that it its members have succeeded in manufacturing chemical and biological weapons to be used against Israel.
In a leaflet distributed in the Gaza Strip, the group, which belongs to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah party, said the weapons were the result of an effort that has lasted for three years.
According to the statement, the first of its kind, the group managed to manufacture and develop at least 20 different types of biological and chemical weapons.
The group said its members would not hesitate to add the new weapons to long-range rockets that are being fired at Israeli communities almost every day. It also threatened to use the weapons against IDF soldiers if Israel carried out its threats to invade the Gaza Strip.

Why do you care? I mean, it's not as if you have the remotest clue as to what you're talking about.

What an interesting poker game. Olmert, on purpose, put in Amir Peretz, into defense; even though he had brought his Labor party to its lowest ebb.
This is a partnership?
I've hesitated to have faith in it. And, yet, still? What if it's just a way of playing a hand, that I've never seen played out this way before? (If Olmert's Golda's reincarnation, alas. Then it is wall-to-wall incompetence.)
But I haven't said that, here. Instead, I see a man without any military experience, learning by the seat of his pants.
Since Arik Sharon knew all about the Bar Lev Line (Golda's creation). And, he hated it. Why would this "fence" be a good idea? How does a thin long line separate the bad guys from Israel? I just don't know. That the tunnel approach got 5 soldiers is a shame. But it also calls for a tactical approach that wasn't on the table.
Olmert? He says it's gonna be more than a one or two day response. This is a big deal?
Amir Peretz is, as I said, flying by the seat of his pants.
And, most people always wait to see Israeli miracles.
I haven't yet leapt up on the distress train; but if things go wrong for Olmert, now; Bibi stands a chance at coming back into the Knesset as a leader. (Many miracles surprise ya. Or they wouldn't be miracles.)

This could turn out to be a very nasty development for the Middle East.
However, don't worry, as I keep telling you, Mr European Union Directive No.666, Javier Solana, your friendly European Union leader, will roll up and sort it all out.
He has a finger in every pie, and is an utter control freak. The unelected, not too far in the future, One World Government dictator.
Israel and the US trust him at their peril!!
