ICE is still playing catch and release with illegals ... the Republican Congress is happy to shelve the issue, so they can play politics with it in the Fall. And our National Guard is shuffling paper, or building sand roads on the border.
Not only does our government not understand what's important to Americans, when they do figure it out, they think they get to say when.
And why the HELL aren't our politicians lined up on the floors of their respective houses cursing the terrorists who brutally murdered two young soldiers and calling for blood? Yes, that may sound crass, but it's precisely what would have happened at one time in America. And I am far from convinced many of the changes have been for the better. Where's the outrage?
Local police said they intercepted 20 illegal Mexican immigrants, but were ordered by immigration officials to let them go free.
Belmont County Sheriff Fred Thompson said his officers were instructed by federal immigration services to let all 20 illegal immigrants go free, and said his department has no choice but to follow the orders from immigration officials.
It's time to build a wall and put the military on the borders, threaten sanctions on Mexico, and do whatever we can to PROTECT OUR BORDERS!
There is no other choice.

There's all kinds of other choices.
What exactly do we think we're protecting ourselves from with a trillion-dollar wall?
Mexico is our friend and neighbor, and their people are largely benign.
Yes, there are *some* who import drugs, and there are *some* who import crime, but the va-a-a-a-a-a-ast majority are willing to clean Wal-Mart's toilets for next to nothing and pick our lettuce ditto.
Yes, Mexico's government is semi-socialist and unresponsive to Mexico's internal problems, but so is Canada's -- and so is our own.
The reality is that the vast majority of the illegals here are doing what we are too self-superior to do for ourselves, and we're wetting our collective panties over it.
Let's break it down; let's apply the basic wisdom of "everything i need to know i learned in kindergarten" to the "problem".
You've got a warm, dry house with food in the fridge. A bum off the street sees that, comes in your unlocked door, helps himself to some leftovers and is found sleeping in a corner of your basement that he swept out to get rid of the sawdust and spiders. What do you do? What is a ***rational*** response?
There are two proposed responses by the various paranoiacs in our nation, and one current policy.
The two idiot proposals are:
1] [from the right-wing morons, fronted by Jim Senselessbrenner] Accuse the bum of stealing the silver and put him on trial for burglary;
2] [from the left-wing brainless dweebs on the left-coast] give the bum the spare bedroom, the extra set of carkeys, a spot at your dinner table and add him to your medical insurance plan at work
These two raging idiocies are being proposed because the current policy is not working, and is only getting more draconian in its effect. The current policy is:
*] penalize the homeowner for having a warm, dry, food-filled house in the first damned place.
Yes, folks, forcing the Human Resources department at Walmart [et al] to do our illegal alien policing, and penalizing Walmart for not doing what INS cannot do is punishing us for not being able to do what INS cannot do in the first place, and is FUCKING STUPID. It's INS's job, not Walmart's.
How about this for a solution:
1] escort the bum out of the house
2] tell him if he wants to make a few bucks cleaning the rest of the basement to come back on saturday morning, and he'll get lunch afterwards as well.
Why does this have to be so difficult?

How about instead of letting them go after they have been picked up, you stick them in uniform and ship them out to Iraq?

Actually, Mexicans are notoriously racist. They might love being sent to Iraq with weapons. ...which is what makes me shake my head with wonder whenever the right-wing twits get all palsied with fear about the porous border with Mexico being the "perfect" conduit for terrorist infiltration...
