To be fair, he probably only wants MTV-like voters with his recent demand that the troops come home from Iraq by years end. Evidently he failed to consult with his would be Secretary of State, Joe Biden - and the Constitution which indicate he's in no position to demand anything. h/t NRO for pointing out the Biden bit - third graph down.
WASHINGTON -- Senator John F. Kerry is placing himself at the center of congressional action over the war in Iraq this week with a crisply worded resolution to require President Bush to withdraw almost all US troops by the end of this year.
The measure has exposed Kerry to attacks from Republicans and some Democrats, as critics rushed to tag the plan as a ``cut-and-run" strategy. But it also has made him a rallying point for antiwar activists.
Senator Joseph Biden of Delaware has been asked by Mr Kerry to become Secretary of State in a Democratic administration, according to Kerry campaign aides.
It's difficult to understand what type of political calculus Kerry is employing, other than perhaps betting that things get even worse in Iraq by 07/08. Someone ought to inform Kerry it isn't good betting against ones country in war time. Though it does seem to be a gambling problem he's had for decades.
Still, it isn't 1968 today and there has been significant progress in Iraq. Perhaps he was getting jealous of Feingold becoming the heart throb of the Left. But, again, the Left hasn't elected anyone President in ... well, they never really have.
It's increasingly difficult to view Kerry as even relevant outside of blog fodder. Hillary is at least showing some backbone by standing up to the hard Left - whether you buy into her tempered position on Iraq, or not. Alas, backbone in the face of conflict is something Kerry never has been able to display. One need only consult Bruce Kesler or Thomas Lipscomb to confirm that.
Kerry may as well be in Cambodia, as far as the next Presidential race is concerned. But then, it's only fair he get to see the country, at least once.

John Kerry is the shadiest man in politics. Hopefully he will run in 08, he and Hillary can spend a ton of money and bloody each other up enough that neither one will get the nomination. John Edwards would love to sit back and watch that, I'm betting he gets the dem nom for '08.

One thing I've noticed -- and it may be changing somewhat -- is that the bloodier the primary, the more name recognition the bloody candidate gets. Name recognition == votes among a certain type of voter.

OMG; I would much rather have the hilda beast...even as a winner than to have to suffer that fake who cannot even decide which state he is from.
