According to a classified briefing at the Pentagon this week by the commander, Gen. George W. Casey Jr., the number of American combat brigades in Iraq is projected to decrease to 5 or 6 from the current level of 14 by December 2007.
Update: Pundita points out that the SWIFT story has to do with things other than just the GWOT.

Let's see, ran with the Z-man story until they saw Americans were proud showing it so the ploy to portray him as a victim, show a leopard skin printed nighty (Zarqawi was a kinky boy!) and any subsequent children's shoes or toys didn't play the pity card too well so they tried Iran. They'll keep going and probably hire Dan Rather as their Editor of International News.

it's so predictable since the ny times is a media whore. i'm a little more troubled by the leaker. it's someone at classified briefings and the security council. sure, they are probably just a bush hater. but hell, what if they are also passing other stuff to a foreign agent.
as far as the troops. huh, this has been part of the plan. but no need for them to broadcast it. (imo, people should have had a little more faith).
