Hoo-rah!!

"Update: I wanted to add some comments here. Obviously, Haditha was never on a scale with My Lai. The narrative from the Marines, if supported by the investigation, indicates another significant difference from My Lai. This was house to house combat. It is wrong to compare this with an incident where it was alleged troops took people out and massacred them for no reason".

That the soldiers at My Lai took people out and shot them for no reason is incorrect and I am very surprised that notion continues to persist. I read the report prior to it becoming unclassified n and a lot of effort went into sifting the village of VC prior to having to attack it because of resistance. At the mop up, tons of armaments awaiting VC use were found and it was ultimately American anti-war sentiment that eventually caused Calley to become the sacrificial lamb. The entire village served as a VC hang out and Calley's crew was sent there to clean it out.

I personally am reserving judgement on what happened at Haditha b/c the media can tend to spin these things out of control. No need to compare it to My Lai, either. But I can tell you, as one who has been over there, that this sort of abuse does happen (albeit I don't know it to happen on a scale of My Lai, although it could!). You guys wouldn't believe the shit I've seen. It pisses me off, though, that the soldiers take the fall. You take an 19 year old out of rural Arkansas or some other similar cases in my unit and throw him into that situation of heat, boredom, the very real risk of death and not knowing who to trust over there and even the sweetest, most loyal churchgoing boy can lose it. OF COURSE sooner or later a Haditha-like event will happen, even though what actually happened at Haditha may be a partial media fantasy. I hate the media.

I would take the word of the marines involved any day, in favour of the left wing liberal press who are really in their element, publishing anything they can in the hope that it will tarnish the reputation of the troops and the Bush government.

By doing this they are giving aid and comfort to the enemy, and acting as a subversive element by undermining the war on terror.

They have no answers themselves, just that the troops should not be in Iraq.

Presumably, they would not have gone after the terrorists in Afghanistan either, and the training camps would still be there, instead of which those camps should have been attacked and shut down years earlier. Better late than never, but President Bush and those wonderful troops did it.

So should Saddam Hussein have been got rid of, with his rape rooms, and torture chambers and mincing machines, which if you were lucky you got put in alive head first, and not feet first!

No, if the left wing liberals had any say in it, all of these things would still be there, and there would also have most likely been other terrorist attacks on the US. After all, what would the terrorist have to lose by attacking again, when they know the US would not have fought back.

At best, the left wing liberals are lacking imagination, at worst, they are a bunch of cowards!!

On the whole, a dead loss!!!

Appreciate your gathering that, Dan. I think we are going to find that this thing has been hugely blown out of proportion. We need to keep the heat on.

The story as presented by the MSM and refuted by others is incomprehensible without reference to the tribal Blood Money system.
