ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A woman accused of pummeling a dog breeder over the head with a dead Chihuahua has been charged with two misdemeanors and reimbursed the money she paid for the puppy.
Lisa Lynn Hopfer, 33, of Wentzville, was charged with trespassing and third-degree assault in the June 7 incident, authorities said.
No listed phone number for Hopfer was available. A man at her home who declined to identify himself told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Friday that "there's another side to the story," but declined to elaborate.

The aggrieved woman's vet said the pup was 4 weeks old, but the breeder claims it was 2 days shot=rt of 9 weeks. Isn't the general rule to wean about 10 weeks?
One article I read said the breeder was struck about 33 times with the dead dog. Talk about losing it.

... but he reimbursed her for the purchase price of the dog he misrepresented...
Consumer fraud is worth a little third-degree assault, idnit?

If she had really cared about the dog she would not have been using it as a weapon. How can you do that with any creature, whether alive or dead!!
I think she should have been charged with 'abuse of a dead dog' if that were possible.
She is certainly NOT a dog lover!!
I would like to know how the dog came to die in the first place??

The dog died because it hadn't been weaned when the guy sold it to her. Which is why she confronted him, after her vet said, "well, lady, this dog was way too young to be separated from its mother, where'd you get it?" and then when the guy wouldn't give her her money back she pasted him with the dead dog. Reflexive reaction, I'm sure.
Consumer fraud has potentially more severe penalties than third degree assault, so his loyyers advised he refund her money. But I think he's still going to be investigated for puppy-milling.

Wow... It makes me wonder where some of these people get their information. That last comment isn't even close to the true story. As I said before while reading some of these forums on this issue... It's really kind of funny to see how a true story can alter to some WAY-OUT fiction. Some people have no clue how to do research.
