Anyone who would write an article on Guantanamo based on the statements of detainees lawyers, who are by definition, advocates, isn't practicing punditry or journalism - they've become a propagandist for the enemy.
And even that might be too noble for what Sullivan is undertaking. Given his history, his motivation might be nothing more than the need to drive some traffic for his new masters with a little sensationalism on his blog.
Maybe they reward him with the extra wide tube. You can read the details via HotAir here.

Sullivan has allowed his personal passion over the GOP's misguided approach to same sex marriage cloud his once relatively reasoned approach to foreign affairs analysis.

Sullivan, like many of us who initially supported this war, has come to rue the day he gave that support. I personally lost friends over my support for this war, and am damn angry thatv I was duped into supporting it.

"I ... am damn angry thatv I was duped into supporting it."
I've given this advice countless times, and it's never been argued down: if you believe a politician while he's playing politics, you are an idiot... it is not the politician's fault. It's yours.
The way the world works is this: You know very very little. You know what you need to know in order to do your job, the one or two hobbies you have, and that's it. Very very few people know "military" or "war" beyond what they saw in Hogan's Heroes or Saving Private Ryan, and some think that owning a vote makes them experts. "I don't like war" comes to equal "war is always wrong and never justified".
Well, the politician's job is to get you to vote for him, and he does that by scaring the bejeezus out of as many people as he can on those issues he thinks will resonate with his constituency. Some politicians try to scare you to death over terrorism and illegal boogeymen who come here to pick lettuce, and others try to scare you to death over environmental wolf-crying and Big Business profits. It hardly matters. Successful politicians try to scare you to death.
And you fell for it.
And now you're so ashamed of falling for it that you're willing to sell your soul to the equal-n-opposite scare-tactics. ...proving that you haven't learned anything and are a sheep.
"If god hadn't meant them to be sheared he wouldn't have made them sheep." - Caldera, "The Magnificent Seven"
