It seems this fellow Spencer from Jihad Watch has a jihad of his own going on over Dean Esmay. I'm not going to bother wading down into the meat of the argument, assuming there is any. But I caught this in Spencer's rant:
Before I answer him, one final note: several people now have written me to say that he is actually an insignificant ranter with a tiny readership, and not worth the time.
I've no idea of either's readership numbers, that's never been the fundamental point of the blogosphere. I'd imagine Spencer does well as his schtick seems to be mostly of the stoke up the fires under the pot and toss in all of Islam variety whichs sells in many ways.
On the other hand, had Spencer done some homework in this case, he'd find that Dean Esmay has been around the blogosphere longer than most, having contributed a very great deal more than simply some often inflammatory, mostly ideologically-based rants.
Contrasting my experience with Dean as an honest and open debater on many issues, versus Spencer's small-minded tactics as evidenced in the quoted paragraph above, it's fairly easy to determine who isn't worth the time in this particular debate.
