On The Matter Of Tericka Dye

If things are as they seem here, this is totally unfair. A female teacher in Kentucky apparently made one adult film ten years ago under another name. She calims to be bi-polar. But to me, that's besides the point.

If she has lived an otherwise uneventful and non-porn performance related life for the past tens years, it seems like a pretty hefty punishment to not allow her to continue to teach.

Saw pics of her and Madonna when both were young, together, nude, in very provacative positions; and I mean provacative with "very" preceding provacative. Granted they're not teacher,but the point here is that life changes and so do people. Probably a bunch of Baptist Preachers got together and backed the "dump Tericka Dye 'cuz she's been bad." Where do these "do-gooders" weigh in on the Duke rape case accusers case?

Why not let her work in school? If she's a good teacher, then whatever work she wants to do nowadays should have nothing at all to do with what she decided to do on a single day ten years from now.

If she's repented for her sins, then she shouldn't be punished. We should be upholding this woman as a success story!

I'm really conflicted on this one. On the one hand it seems clear from all that I have gathered that this woman has not only led a clean life since the video she shot 11 years ago ... but an admireable one. She enlisted in the service and was honorably discharged. They went to college, graduated, and has been a good teacher of high school science for a few years now. Isn't this what all of us would want our kids to do after a mistake, or bad choices? Turn it around, make changes, contribute postively to society? In some ways I think she COULD be a very positive role model for young people, if given the chance.

But at the same time, as a guy, who was once a teenage boy with raging hormones ... There is no question videos of this woman will forever be burned and exchanged among her future students. It will be a running joke, and will be very hard for her to have the respect of her students, I would think particularly male. There is no doubt it would be an ongoing disruption. The practical side of me says that no matter how much any of us would like to think she could be treated fairly, and that the residents and students would be able to put this behind her, it will just never happen.

Talk about a cautionary tale ... I feel very badly for the teacher.

Okay, I consider, as would most, myself ULTRA-CONSERVATIVE, and ultra-religious by some standards----but....c'mon!!! I think she should teach. Not only do I think she can be a good teacher, but I also think she could be a good role model---saying, everyone can change, everyone is valuable, everyone can make a difference in this world no matter their past. Teachers should live as role models. I guess the problem is that the porn controversy disrupts the school. A fair compromise would be for the parents at the teacher's school to decide if they want her to continue to teach at that school. I doubt that parents want her teaching their kids now that they know she made porn. I think a better question is who saw her in the porn, and then reported it to school officials? Apparently there is a double standard that it is ok to watch porn, but not to be in porn.

Let’s zoom out for a minute on this. This is one perspective ok, not necessarily mine. Kentucky is in the heart of the Bible belt and that means persecution and damnation to hell for life for a sin like this. Tericka Dye is human...and most humans make decisions that at some time or another that arent exactly great. I feel sorry for her that this whole Bible thumping area are such hypocrites. I don't care that she made a porn movie more than a decade ago. What I am shocked at is to learn that after being diagnosed as bi-polar, she was able to enlist in the US Military, as an M.P. no less. This applies to anyone who wants to judge this woman. She made a terrible mistake 11 years ago but she seems like a decent person. She didn't have sex with her students, like so many slutty so-called "teachers" have done lately (i.e., Deborah Lafave or Mary Kay Letourneau). She made a mistake and then turned her life around by making a positive difference in the lives of those she taught.

Most likely, she never considered what the outcome of her actions would be down the line...the possibility that one day she would be recognized. Many young women have wound up in this predicament. She probably hoped that no one would ever know about it. I'm with Kate. If T.D. continues at that school like this never happened, she'll be miserable. Those students, their parents, and her coworkers will never let her live it down. They simply won't. They'll be making lewd comments, passing copies of the movies around, downloading her on the school computers when no one's looking.

I wonder if she feels somewhat relieved that this is now out in the open. She has nothing to hide anymore. Her double life has been discovered. She deserves a clean slate and I hope her children don't suffer because of this. I wonder what drove her to do that. While bipolar disorder can result in hypersexuality and impulsiveness, I don't know if it can push somebody into porn. Most of the time, a woman has to be desperate for some reason to resort to that. She said she was in her late teens or early 20's when she did this, I believe. Then she said she was both homeless and alcoholic, with two children. It is an odd story and I wonder how true it is.

Hmm...didn't she have parents? She never mentioned her childhood or family, that I can recall from the Dr. Phil show. If she had somebody to steer her away from that type of situation, it probably wouldn't have happened. I don't believe she would do it again. Dr. Phil's indictment of her was pretty much: "You've done it before, you'll do it again, you're an unfit member of society". Those weren't his precise words but that's what he meant. Hello?! The woman was in porn 11 years ago. She's been a teacher since then and a good one, according to her students and those who worked with her.

I didn't know she had enlisted in the service. Wow. I thought psychological evaluations were part of that whole deal? I would like to learn more info about her background. Where is she from? Does she have a family? In this country, we push sex out there while enforcing the double standard. If a male teacher was discovered to have done that, people would be clapping him on the back. We have too many people playing moral police officers and being holier-than-thou when most of them would be better off minding their own business. Most of those parents need to worry about whether their children are whoring themselves out over the Internet, which is unfortunately commonplace now. I wonder what she plans to do with her life from here. I hope she is able to hold her head up and keep living, no matter what.

PLEASE e-mail him and let him know how apparent he has made it that he does not think for himself or exhibit any of the qualities of a good educator. He is a puppet and the local school board is his puppet master.

This whole community missed a glaring opportunity to help their studnets to understand that mistakes can be made and people can overcome. It is a shame.

These videos were recorded years ago. Why have they resurfaced now? The kids at her school aren't old enough to bye the videos, so how would they know what she did in the past if some idiotic adult didn't tell them. If she's a good teacher, let her teach. So what if she was video taped doing legal adult things with other adults. She shouldn't be punished for being grown and sexy. Pornography is not against the law. There are no children in the videos, so what's the big deal. Besides if the students did find out about her past life on their own then their parents have bigger problems to worry about than who their teacher is.

Heres the thing when you are a role model to your children in class you have to walk with self respect but when you shatter that self respect by something you did in the past it will come back at you for instance we see this as what she did in her past should be bury and done with which is true but tommorow one of these kids is going to walk into that class and probably will think I saw my teacher butt naked sweating hard in a porn movie. He will not see her with respect plus these kids are young and experimenting I am sure these kids will not see her in the same way they did before this resurface. Obviously some jobs require you to have a discreet record especially one dealing with kids and what this poor lady did is on tape and dvd.
