Holloway suspect worked in hotel

The Utrecht police made an arrest last wednesday in the case of missing Natalee Holloway. It concerns an Aruban youngster who worked as a croupier in the hotel where the American student stayed.

The arrestee is held in Utrecht and suspected of kidnapping and murder. His lawyer Spong will try to prevent his extradiction to Aruba with summary proceedings.

In june last year, a month after Natalees disappearence, the suspect came to the Netherlands. He had already been questioned several times. He is a friend of Joran van der Sloot, who had been incarcerated for some time as the prime suspect in this case.

In the main two news shows in the Netherlands, the NOS News and the RTL News it was reported tonight that an arrest was made in the Natalee Holloway case. The suspect who was arrested in the Netherlands is being charged with murder. According to his lawyer Gerard Spong he is being charged with the severest accusation known in Dutch criminal law. His first name is said to be Guido and he's acquainted with Joran van der Sloot. Guido worked as a croupier in one of the hotel casinos on the island when Natalee disappeared. He was questioned several times by the Aruban police force before he traveled to the Netherlands. In the Netherlands he was also questioned by the Dutch police.

Fox reporting to be Guido Wever who worked in Excelsior of HI as casino worker. Charged with assisting in the murder, heavy battery, and kidnapping of Natalee Holloway.

High profile Attorney, Spong has confirmed per Fox and Aruba working to have him extradited back to Aruba. He reportedly left 14 days after the disappearance.

Is he son of a prominent political party member? Has the gardener witness, Carlos also been arrested? Is he a cousin to someone who has reported on the case for Aruba?

There will be lots of rumors and speculation. I hope we see real facts come forward that will answer if this person is involved. If he is involved lets hope he comes forward with information that will provide the long overdue answers of where Natalee lies waiting and what happened to her that late night.

I sure hope this is the beginning to an end and not a smoke screen. It will be interesting to see if this kid has any "connections". If he is involved...it could actually go either way for Joran. It could be Natalee did make it to the hotel after Joran left her or it could be that Joran handed Natalee over to this guy. At this point...we just don't know.

What I am really hoping for at this point is information for the family. There probably can never be what is called closure for them...but there can maybe be some healing for them. Let's all hope for the best.

I was thinking this arrest could be a smoke screen to protect Joran from the civil lawsuit pending in N.Y. Joe Taco is claiming someone else beside Joran harmed Natalee, so this arrest makes Joran's innocence seem more credible.

The fact that this suspect was arrested in the Netherlands suggests that there was some valid reason for making the arrest. Hopefully they will be able to solve this case before the suspect is returned to Aruba.

I tend to agree with Dr Placebo about there being a valid reason. I think if this was simply a trump card to be used to protect Joran it would have been played a while back. I have no idea why it would have taken them so long to make the arrest...but then again...there is so much to this case we just aren't privy to. Maybe they were making a stronger case after having arrested several people and not being able to prove their cases.

Please DO NOT make awful assumptions like that Cap'nJoe.

The first two people to get fingers pointed at were in fact innocent. But they certainly endured days of horror as did their familes when it looked like they were guilty. Let's rely on fact and evidence.

The "scuttlebutt" (no confirmation, just rumors) going around at various places is that "Guido" may be the real deal - which MAY mean Natalee made it back to the Hol Inn or at least near the Hol Inn that morning, where she had the unfortunate luck to run into this young man. The charges against him are quite a lot more serious than they have been for ANY person (JK2 included) charged before and include a battery charge that makes it seem like ALE may have some new evidence we are not aware of. These are not just random "suspicion of murder" charges or someone being brought in as witness or to obtain info like it has been before.
JVDS has not been picked up for questioning or on any other charges...yet. He did play Tennis at the same club as "Guido" - they are described as "acquaintances". To be a croupier at a casino Guido would have to have been at least 21 last May (and maybe older) and would likely have owned a car. He did leave Aruba rather suddenly 2 weeks after Natalee disappeared and was questioned - it appears originally the questions were more related to what he might have seen or heard at the Hol Inn the day/night/morning Natalee disappeared, although it appears he has been questioned since in the Netherlands - which is the main reason no-one has heard anything about HIM being a potential suspect until now.
Will be interesting to learn what ALE has on this guy.....and who he is (and is connected to).

There is no working crematorium on Aruba - or at least there wasn't a year ago. Anyone who lives in Aruba can verify this - the nearest one is on another island. While this Wever may be related to the crematorium Wevers there was not a facility on Aruba when Natalee went missing. Disposing of a body in this manner would have required removing it by boat or plane to Curacao for cremation.

All this shows is that it is dangerous to be in the jurisdiction of a government that arrests one for farting or for being an acquaintence.

I sure hope Beth or Jug stay out of Aruba, as they are acquainted with Natalee, thus making them possible suspects and possible arrestees.

If any of you believe that these incompentents in Aruba will ever do anything toward solving this case other than arrest half of the population of the island, then you may be interested in a bridge in NY I have for sale.

Infectious waste is burned in an incinerator at hospitals, is there any "people" connections to the main hospital on Aruba, which I think is,Doctor Horacio Oduber Hospital??

I remember discussing this at length a year ago - no incinerator of the type that would be needed to burn a BODY in Aruba. None, Nowhere. It takes a really hot fire to incinerate a 120lb body to ashes (and time) - and it takes a rather large "chamber" as well. A hospital incinerator of that size would be quite unusual - especially on a small island with a small hospital. Besides, there would be several people involved in the safe operation of such an incinerator, it would be quite difficult to just sneak in and burn a whole BODY without someone noticing.
Basically at the time Natalee went missing (and for some mos after) there was no incinerator, furnace or oven in Aruba that would have been suitable for the burning, incinerating or otherwise disposing of a human body.
IF Natalee is still on the island she is buried somewhere. I still think Natalee was dropped into the ocean though. Clean, simple, solitary and quick - one person and one boat and it's done. Aruba is SURROUNDED by the ideal body disposal mechanism - the ocean.
