I doubt it would be good for airtravel and economics for the US, when Europeans will stay away... they will come up with something which will be in compliance with the privacy rules stated in the European Constitution.

Yeah, we won't truly be free until the government tracks our every move, phone call, email, etc. Why don't Euros understand this "logic?"

every country has its set of constitutions, either one may not agree upon that, but it is up to the country to decide what the law is. As long as people have no clue what these laws mean (Dan did you ever read them?) you can't just joke around them, also they have to be obeyed, or change the law,...
Privacy laws are completely different in Europe... like states who have their own ones (does one state recognize a gaymarriage which was done in another state?) . I don't think this should be taken as unfriendly or enemy, they WERE giving out information at first...

The European Commission acted illegally because of some legal technicalities.
As long as the USA only use the data to fight terrorism, it's fine...:)
Not a big problem.

And there is no such a thing as an European Constitution (thank God). And all European countries are different.

Capitalism? Of course Europe knows how capitalism works. But Europeans are trying to find a better system than capitalism. Because we all know that capitalism also has a negative side. But the heart of Europe is and will always be capitalism.

Democracy? There's nothing wrong with democracy in Europe! As least we know how to count or re-count the votes. :)

Terrorism? We know how to fight terrorism. Actually, some European countries (Spain, UK) have dealed with terrorism for decades (ETA, IRA). Some European 'liberals' don't like the way how Bush fights terrorism (Iraq, Guantanamo). But fact is there are Europeans in Iraq and Afghanistan. Fact is that Bush and Rice praise the way how Europe fights terrorism.

RE: "we won't truly be free until the government tracks our every move, phone call, email..."

I agree. Both the pro-PoliceState 'conservatives' and the nanny-state 'liberals' need to move to Iran where they all belong. You want security on the airplanes? Get rid of the shoe and underwear inspections and put two guys with 410-gauge shotguns on every plane. I would be cheaper. We can even use that Bush guest-worker program; hire ex-military Guatemalans to man the shotguns for $7-hour.
