Michelle Malkin and also PJM have various photo round ups of yesterday's illegal immigrant demonstrations. And I have no doubt some of them are capable of working up ones anger. That doesn't mean I'd move off of my earlier post on the reasoning behind understanding some form of path to citizenship is what will eventually come from all of this. As I have always maintained, the real issue is getting control of the border now.
Americans aren't opposed to legal immigration. And it as much our responsibility that we've allowed it to get our of control, as it is the fault of those crossing over. I didn't hear anyone calling to toss Cheech and Chong out of the country during the late 70's and 80's while many were enjoying the humor which sprung out of a growing Mexican presence in America.
Yes, as CNN's Lou Dobbs pointed out, there is a radical element now attempting to take the lead on the immigration issue. The case could be made that's as good a reason as any to embrace that law abiding element of the Mexican community that's here to work and become a part of America, while weeding out the negative influences through attrition. Keep in mind, I have never advocated allowing serious criminals or those unwilling to be assimilated to stay.
Before looking at some images which are liable to get an average Americans blood up, we should also keep in mind that apparently hundreds of thousands of people, rightly or wrongly, took to the streets yesterday, but I'm unaware of any serious reports of rioting, burning, or looting we've seen from some much smaller crowds in the street with a grievance, or even after an NBA championship, for that matter.
We need serious legislation to deal with immigration and our land borders. We don't need a knee jerk response that attempts to throw the Mexican baby out with the activist bath water.
And always keep your sense of humor, for heaven's sake.

with any luck the demonstrations will backfire as americans see first hand how large the problem really is.

"There is nothing so strong as an idea who's time has come."
Depose the money-making engines of the world! Make everyone poor alike!
...ideas like those, Mrs?

I now know what it is that makes me want to slap the snot out of you everytime I see one of your pointless comments - no one with a V-3 powering her brain should waste space with mindless, unsubstantiated drivel. Come back when you've got something worth reading. (Read: when you've got an IDEA.)

No need in getting that incensed Stella. The truth of the matter is that equality cuts both ways. Insofar as all the talk about building a fence, everyone who can see straight already knows it will take a herd of illegal workers to build this wall which would once again help make the politically favored contractors richer. sadly, it would be business as usual.

Liztay - This is the second time I've stooped to Mrs. Levy's level (made a pointless comment) rather than do what I had intended (possibly make a relevant, substantiated one.) Long day at work. Thank you for bringing up some excellent points.
