With the assistance of a mainstream media that refuses to keep voters objectively and thoroughly informed, it appears the Senate is poised to abdicate its responsibility under the Constitution to protect and defend America by passing its version of immigration reform.
WASHINGTON, May 24 — Chances that the Senate will pass a bill overhauling the immigration system increased sharply today when senators voted 73 to 25 to limit debate on the immigration bill and the number of amendments that can be offered.
The cloture vote makes it likely that final action on the bill, which would provide a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants who have been in the country for over five years, will take place this week, possibly on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Lord Hastert the Hapless wants to take his evidence and go home.
It feels so liberating picking on the guys on my side when they screw up! I can't think of a more What we're they thinking? moment in modern politics since dear old Perot VP candidate Admiral James Stockdale, who was a very decent man, simply not politically experienced, or astute.
"Who am I? Why am I here?" and I never got back to that because there was never an opportunity for me to explain my life to people. It was so different from Quayle and Gore.
In hindsight, maybe it would have been better if he had gotten back to it and explained.

Keep up the good work, keep being careful.
Typo: "What we're they thinking?"
What we are they thinking?
Actually, What we/are they thinking kind of works...

Has anyone ever looked closely at Hastert? He seems much more familiar with the take out menu at McDonald's than the constitution!
