It sure can make your head spin if you've lived a while and look around at the America we live in today.
The country is on track for same sex marriage. And, no, I don't really care how adults want to live their lives, but the notion that a same sex union is the same as traditional marriage is a joke. It's more a biological question for me, than a religious one. Anything which would result in the extinction of the species is an unnatural choice. People are welcome to it, but suggesting the two are equal is simply nonsense. And that so many people might not think so isn't some great sign of progress, simply a sign of how warped current thinking has actually become. I never cared so much about gay marriage as I did for preserving the institution of the family. Maybe because I never really had the one I might have imagined, or wanted ... so it goes.
A government allegedly dedicated to protecting and defending the country can't wait to throw open the border even wider to a third world country which will only force our standard of living down. It doesn't take a slide rule to figure that one out.
Iraq has all but confirmed that this country lacks the political will to fight wars on the brutal terms they need to be fought. And the citizenry is now proving they lack the moral courage to see one through, no matter what.
We regularly graduate kids from college who can't even read or write, let alone some who simply can't think. And the majority of them seem to lack the manners, discipline and civility which always made my image of America so great.
For a very long time in my life, even back to when I was young and not even finished college, I always felt a tremendous sense of jealousy for all the things far off into the future I always knew I would never get to see.
Unfortunately, I can't say as I've felt that way for some time. In some ways, I've seen enough. Kee-rist I am getting old.
Screw it. I'm going to bed. LOL Whatever the hell America is these days, it'll be here in the morning when I wake up.
PS - See what I mean? How freaking stupid is this?
COLLEYVILLE — A yearbook cover that omits the words "In God We Trust" from a picture of an enlarged nickel has angered some parents.
Liberty Elementary, a new school in suburban Fort Worth, chose the coin because the nickel's new design prominently features the school's name in cursive.
The coin also has "In God We Trust" along the right edge, but the phrase was removed from the yearbook. Instead, the $16 book came with a sticker that gave students the choice of putting the phrase back on the nickel.

Good night Dan. Have a good nights rest.

I agree with you on this, Dan, except for the war in Iraq. A smart nation knows the limits of military power and uses it only to protect its vital interests, not to "spread democracy around the world".

No more right or wrong
No more black or white
Everything now falls into the grey area.

What happens when our county splits at the seams when people seeking democracy come here. Why shouldn't we help countries who want a democratic system?

IMHERE,
Helping is one thing. Sending in troops is quite another.

(AP) Authorities say twelve boys in the first and second grade at a St. Louis elementary school are accused of sexually assaulting a second grade girl during recess.
School superintendent Creg Williams says one teacher who was supposed to be supervising the recess has been fired and another has been suspended with pay. Ten of the boys, ages 6 to 8, were suspended for the rest of the school year. The other two received five day, in-school suspensions.
No names were released.
The girl, who is 8, will not return for the rest of the school year. "We don't know what type of emotional scars it will have on the young lady," said Williams.
The incident happened Friday at Columbia Accelerated Community Educational Center, a school with 400 students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade on the city's north side.
During the recess shortly after lunch, a student saw several boys huddled around the girl who was on the ground, and alerted a teacher.
Police turned the investigation over to juvenile authorities. A court official said the boys could face misdemeanor counts of sexual misconduct and assault.
Saint Louis University pediatrician and professor Ken Haller says authorities should not just investigate the boys themselves, but the home in which they live – because boys that young who commit such acts are almost always victims of abuse themselves.

"Does this mean that marriages between people who don't or can't have children should be considered invalid?"
You can only know the answer if A) you are married and B) have kids. When B) happens you cease becoming roomates and marriage begins. Hate to sound so cold but damn it's so true.

I don't feel this question is relavent. Some don't have children because they don't want any; others can't have them because they aren't able to (and there's plenty to be adopted in this case). How does that relate to a same gender marriage? But hey, it's America and anything goes right? It's their "right" to be homosexual; it's their right to live together; it's their right to share a home; but it's everyone's right to protect the welfare of children, mankind, and legal marriage. It's my right to pass loud, obnoxious, fumes while dining at a classy restaurant and eating broccoli...but I dare to say those around me won't approve of it. In other words, people have the "right" to do as they please, but not to subject everyone else to it.
