“My dear nation! I am talking to you, free of any wrong, hoping to find in you listening ears and open minds. Rest assured that the leader does not lie to his people. When the Crusader enemy invaded Iraq, the intentions were to control the Islamic nation, and enable the Zionist entity to prevail from the Nile to the Euphrates. But God enabled your mujahidin children to stand facing the fiercest Crusader campaign creeping on the land of Islam. They stood facing that invasion for a period of three years or a bit longer, and gave in that period the most valuable and most precious, sacrificing their souls and their possessions. They spent their life savings, dedicated their time, sacrificed their souls and honor, and shouldered the fiercest attacks militarily, economically, and on the media front for nothing but to defend this nation, its religion, its men and women, and their honor. Therefore, God inflicted the enemy's gathering and dispersed their unity, and their defeat became apparent to everyone who can see with the naked eye and a clear mind.

Listen to his words. "Crusader". "Islamic Nation".
This is the way they view the world. We didn't invade Iraq because Iraq violated the cease fire and invited military action; nor even because we want their oil.
We invaded because we want to end Islam. This is what they believe.
We didn't just invade Iraq; we invaded the "islamic nation" ... which is all of them.
They see the world as black/white, either/or, us/them. For us, therefore, to constantly differentiate between them -- "oh, that terrorism is acceptible because it's sponsored by SYRIA" -- is to deny the reality of that part of the world: when it comes to their relationship to "the west", they are united.
We can sit back and watch the Sunnis and the Shi'a in Iraq bomb each other's kids and watch the Arabs anihilate Kurds and vice versa, but that is them among themselves. "The west" is the unifying greater evil in their eyes, and we are stupid to not acknowledge that, and act on it.
