In my short time in the military I have experienced more suffering than I could have imagined before joining up. I have held the hand of a dying Marine who had only one last wish: that someone would be with him and hold his hand as he passed on. So I sat there with a strange man, holding his hand, not saying a word, until he died. ...

Very moving!
Thank you.

Seems not so strange a man in the end...

Very powerful and unbelievably touching. Thank you, Dan.

Thanks for that story Dan. Is my old unit.
Makes me think all the more that politicians who forget their oaths, turn to treason during times our military is in conflict, should be arrested same as for striking a law enforcement officier. Opinion, by actress or other leech off those who are do'ers can voice decent without aiding our enemies...the draft should come back, and service to our country should be more highly regarded. Yes, it is odd how my mind includes these things from reading one nice story.
Thanks to Aric for the story and service.

Whoa. I went from that DU comment thread to this story. I just had a bipolar event. I like where I am now, but the bad taste from DU is worse.
Thanks for the story, Dan.
