Whoa! My monitor is smoking.

The kids assimilate once they hit public school. Three months in and no problemo adios espaniola.
"Janatan" (pronounced Yan-na-tan)arrived here last year from PR. This year his english is on par with his mates and he insists he be called "Jonathan". Assimilate? Yeah. It happens.

How dare they celebrate their heritage in America. We in America already have perfect Anglo roots - we mustn't allow it to be defiled.

These "marches" are nothing but a farce. If you look at the actual web sites that they use to promote their cause you will see that it's a BS story. They think that if they use the American flag and act like they want to assimilate then we are to stupid to figure out the truth.

Just look at this web site:
http://www.mexica-movement.org/granmarcha.htm

It will make your stomach turn.

Damned straight, Lucky. Us white people still have control--but it's slipping. Why don't they realize that it's just better to let us control things? We're not the ones always late on our phone bills.

"we are to stupid to figure out the truth"

Lucky-exactly! And it's such b.s. The " INDIGENOUS PEOPLE" fail to realize that it's the europeans who have made this land/country/economy what it is. What have they done with their land/country? Why don't they march in Mexico city and demand a better life from Mr. Pres Fox. -not to mention the male chauvinism in these latin countries.

Watching illegals have the nerve to organize, talk smack, make demands speeking of their rights, telling democrat politicians how we should run our country, reminds me more of the treasonists holding office, and that I will buy no product nor use services of anyone speeking broken English in the USA. The marches only make me more resolved...I cannot take instruction and demand from criminals.

Oh, cute. "Speeking."

it kills me that Americans are subject to crotch sniffing dogs at the airports, drug testing for jobs, and even knock and talks from police if they so choose, and these CRIMINALS have the balls to rally in OUR STREETS and tell us how it's going to be!

Funny how it doesn't work the same for us when we go to their country. Americans disappear and their cars end up in the policia's impound lot.

And, this crap about jobs we won't do is just that, crap. The farm owners, restaurant owners and landscaping businesses need to be held accountable and pay like the rest of this country. Or better yet, take your operation to Mexico and don't let the door hit you in the backside.

What I want to know about these rallies is WHERE WERE THE INS BUSSES to round these criminals up?

There are 100's of thousands in the streets marching...even in DC...Cindy Shehan got put in jail for a lot less...she's a US Citizen, and the Iraqi War has been debated beyond recognition...SO, when in the hell is someone calling in the national guards or are there any left? Oh yeah, there are Americans out there protesting as well, saw the police barrier, standing shoulder-to-shoulder, dividing the two groups while some of the 'illegals' where trying to encourage fighting....this sucks!

This may sound racist, but I really don't give a big shit: the Mexicans have no problem with assimilation, neither do the SE Asians or Middle Easterners, but the blacks sure do. Many foreigners come to this country with no language skills, get to work, learn the language, and settle in. Just one case out of the hat is the family from Mexico who came here 10 years ago, kids spoke little English. Now, of five kids, two are in medical school, one is entering law school and one has just finished medical school. The last one is still in high school. My buddy Jesse De La Cruz waited tables at night and graduated from CSU, Fresno. Had four kids and the wife worked a little; he eventually went on to get his PhD and teach at Stanford. I don't often hear Mexicans complaining about their civil rights being denied or abused and demanding reparations, but the news is full of blacks making all kinds of ridiculous demands for money or special placement in colleges or special treatment in the workplace. The blacks have been in this country for over 200 years and continue to produce the condition of mediocrity. Their crime rate is excessively high, productivity low and impetus for success is practically zero. The only problem I have with the 10 or 11 million illegals is that they have displaced that number of people lawfully seeking entry. I will venture to say that few Americans have seen these people work as myself. I have worked on both sides of the border in the construction and agricultural industries and watched the Mexicans work like dogs. They rarely complain and are sometimes taken advantage of by the employers and have little recourse. Yes, they send a lot of money home, but they earned it and it is rightfully theirs. Americans commonly go to Europe, spend big bucks there and buy a BMW, Volvo, or Rolls and bring it back. They made the money here and spent it there; the Mexicans make it here and send it home and one sad thing is that sometimes they don't see their families for years. On the whole, they have a lower high school drop out rate, take better care of their families, and in general, draw less energy from the social services infrastructure. I'd be willing to bet on the surprise people would get if they compared the income tax of the Mexicans and those who have been in this country for over two hundred years. Now that would be a welcome wake up call.

hobo what do you mean about the income tax, two hundred yrs?
Sure, the mexicans may pay their taxes, would help out in building new schools they can attend .... I tend to agree with Bush here..."People ought to be ... able to work on a temporary basis, and if they want to become a citizen, after a series of steps they got to take, they get in line like everybody else. Not at the head of the line, but the end of the line."

cuz, 'Illegal' is as 'Illegal' does ... this entire protest, these people coming out of the seams of this country, and the US Gov't is standing around doing what? For God Sakes, Congress is on recess...These Rallies reminds me of scenes from the Reichsparteitag...don't think the US has seen this massive since the victory of WWII.

Oh Hobo, you actually made a decent attempt at "understanding" the influx of Mexicans, but then you lost all your credibility by . . . yes, being a racist! See I can somehow forgive plain ignorance, but you knew you were being racist. Shame, shame, shame!

Why do most people have to have a personal experience to learn compassion? You experienced Mexicans' plight and how hard they work, but I'm sure you never immersed yourself into Black history and culture. Blacks, unlike immigrants, were shipped to this country against their will and were enslaved for most of their history in this country. It's been just less than 50 years since Blacks enjoy equal rights, at least on paper. It will take several generations to overcome the psychological and financial scars of slavery and desegregation. Considering that part of the immense wealth of this country has been built on the backs of slaves, I cannot understand the attitudes against the relatively small gestures of entitle ment programs.

Now most immigrants that make it to this country are already the most resilient, educated, entrepreneurial, and hardworking among their original populations, so naturally they do well in this country.

Hope you learned something new! Open your minds!

Ted from Chappaquiddick should be in jail for supporting people who preach Nazi-like racism (La Raza) and the overthrow of the US govt in certain areas of the US (Azlan...La Reconquista).

If a million white English speaking Americans did this, they would thrown in jail, and labeled a hate-group

Just wondering why the business who hire these illegals havent fired them yet? In those groups there are supporters of various unions and commie front-groups. Comeuppance will be when these anti-American employers get sued for firing their illegals because they unionized ......hahahaha

Racism didn't enter Hobo's discourse. He spoke the facts as he saw them. I've seen all sides myself, and there isn't a thing I could say to add to the truth of what Hobo said.

Pragmatist - wow. Number one, you don't know Hobo's life or much about him, so I would advise you to be quiet about that part.

That you think one has to be immersed in something before one can feel compassion towards it, whatever plight it is? That is some shallow thinking. As well, your condescension towards blacks is absolute racism from my point of view. You talk about them as if they are so ignorant and repressed that it will take another hundred years for them to be able to 'fix themselves'.

Hahaha Phoenix, just another one who just doesn't get it. First of all, Hobo himself mentioned he's probably racist, I just confirmed it. I can tell you that even without knowing him most intelligent folks would consider his assertion racist.

The other thing that's hilarious is how people like you claim reverse racism. Go figure . . . Listen, if you would like mentioning facts, I know all of them. Blacks in this country are disproportionately poor, in jail and on welfare. Those are the facts and mentioning this is not condescending. Now at this point, Hobo and Phoenix, you show your true colors by using those facts and simply denigrate Black people by (in Hobo's case) comparing them to Latino immigrants. I take a more broad minded and educated approach by teaching you why Black people are in their situation: slavery, segregation, and racism. I support social support programs so that they can catch up, while you enjoy watching reruns of Katrina footage.

Dear Riehl World,

I'm about to plan a little trip to Mexico with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this.

I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way we do here.
So, would you mind telling President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:
1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
3. All government forms need to be printed in English.
4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.
7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, a cartoon decal of Calvin and Hobbs urinating on the word Mexico, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and don t enforce any labor laws or tax laws.
13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because we already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.
However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail hunting with the US V.P.

Thank you so much for your help,
-Art (not Arturo)
