The 19-year-old man, identified publicly only by the initials G.V.C., was arrested Sunday. He is scheduled to appear Tuesday before a judge, Aruban prosecutors said in a written statement.
The youth is not necessarily a suspect in Holloway's disappearance, but Aruban law allows authorities to hold someone without charges for questioning with a judge's approval.
Some cable news I have heard in the case, most notably on Fox, continues to poorly report this story. Several allegedly informed talking heads were commenting as to what an outrage it would be if this boy was let go because nothing turned up. The fact is, it could be that nothing will.
Under Dutch law an arrest like this is on par with someone simply being questioned in the US. Except that the Dutch system gives the police much more leverage as to how the individual can be detained. The Fox heads I heard were acting like this was the arrest of a suspect, as far as anyone knows, it never has been.
Sadly, it only goes to further prove the relatively uninformed, or truly uninterested talking heads they often employ. You would think after this amount of time, they might at least study up a bit on Dutch law. But, why do that? When it's so much easier to remain ignorant and simply inflame.
BHT and Greta dont have a clue. They obviously dont know that the decision has been made to hold the suspect for 8 more days. They also, for unknown reasons dont understand that he is not and cannot be held as a material witness; he is being held as a suspect in the disappearance. This was clearly stated by Arlene. He is a suspect. And the judge has determined that there is sufficient evidence to hold him for eight more days.

JT said the shirt found had this kids name or intials tying the specific shirt to him, and the shirt had forensic evidence that linked it to this case. If true, then JT's prediction of this being a watershed occurance in this case is absolutely true.
BHT is still in denial, since she states NH did not know this boy; but yet statements taken by police, including some from MB kids, show otherwise.

I watched part of LKL with Joe T. he says that there is " evidence " to exonerate Joran. So, let's have it Joey ! !
If there is this evidence, why did the Judge not agree ?

NH's parents (on both sides) want her back and failing that- want those responsible to be punished.
Their notions as to who is responsible are based upon belief, not 'benefit'.
If I were NH's family, I would be profoundly suspicious of J2K. I don't think it's about 'desire'-- They have been jerked around in a grotesque unconscienable way by J2K. In Nh's families' case, I think it is about BELIEF.
JT is paid, (both with money and exposure-- exposure ensuring future exposure and maybe future money). He needs to do his job. He'll represent his client. His statements aren't based upon belief, but on upon what is PROVABLE or not provable.
I don't know if I can separate the tourism committees of Aruba and ALE or not.
I will say that the tourism committees correctly understand that their tourism economy depends upon PERCEPTION. There is a 'disconnect', however, in their idea of how perception can be 'mangaged'.
Speaking for myself, as a woman, if I hear these wierd attitudes about a missing woman, I am NOT going to be traveling to that vacation spot. That's based on my own FEARS based on my own EXPERIENCES.
Someone posted something the other night about Aruba proudly announcing in 2004(?) (pre- NH) that the ALE and the business community were partnering in providing safety for tourists. It seems that there was a consensus in the country at that time that safety was a very valid issue-- economically-- but beyond that-- a point of pride.
There is a stong relationship between the situation in Aruba and that on the cruise ships... it is interesting that they are both coming to the fore now.

For what it is worth....my take:
This kid was in charge of disposing of the body.
Paulus was the perpetrator. The security company was paid (via ATM withdrawal) to dispose of the body in a 'no body, no crime' fashion.
Aruban Judges and Law Enforcement have acted to distance Paulus from this tragedy - not allowing searches of his property, ruling that he isn't a suspect, etc.
Perhaps this kid will sing. Paulus will go down, J2K will go down for being accomplices.

No, that is a totally different boy and for all I know from the photo's of this Jeff/Geoffrey is that this boy is "staff" on a waterskisschool, parasailing and snorkel club and that he is a "hottie" for some tourist girls (see the remarks under the pics of the girls on webshots), that's why they probably want to be on the pics with him. There are a lot of these guys in Aruba and all around the world for that matter who are like this. And they are not all rapist, murderers or partners in crime. They just wanna have a good time while working on the beach. I guess a lot of you posters forgot how it was to be young and wild. I can show you pics from Las Vegas, L.A., Miami, New York in the partyscene where guys standing with girls on the picture, dancing, kissing, flirting or JUST posing on the pics with them. I doubt if they are all criminals, rapist or murderers unless there is a law against having fun, being outgoing and young....

It seems that the Aruban DA has something firm to request an additional 8 days. Witnesses are not arrested and detained in Aruba - only suspects. What is being underplayed is the 2, perhaps now a 3rd day of a sea searches involving Aruban LE and sonar.
It may be the cops now know where to look for something - remains, weapon, some evidence connected to the case.
Dave Holloway said if the 8 day detention occurs, he will begin to hope a solution is close.
FWIW, I doubt the solution involves Joran.

I accept that, but Joran's story still doesn't make sense. If he thought he was going to "get lucky" with Natalee but lacked a condom, and they drove to his house, as he said, wouldn't he have made an excuse to run inside and get a condom before going to the beach? I don't think they went to the beach at all.

And I reject that this person was developed from the special - although some confirmation of suspicions may have occurred. This company had to have been interviewed months ago - expecially after the shirt was found.
