Allow me to 'splain this to some of her liberal defenders. Mary O. McCarthy was a high-level government (CIA) employee who took an oath to uphold the secrecy of highly classified information and that information was disclosed during a time of war.
And this was not simply coffee clatch talk with a friend. It appears this was a pattern of behavior deliberately pursued to undermine the war effort and the Commander In Chief. That is not whistle blowing, it is treason.
Two congressional aides -- one Democratic, one Republican -- both told CNN they knew of no attempt by McCarthy to speak to intelligence committee members about any concerns about CIA activities.
Ms. McCarthy had options. She was not some secretary who inadvertantly saw a memo which, shoud she disclose the contents of, she would have to fear for her job. She decided to play outside of the rule - the rule of law, that is. And given her position, this is, without a doubt, a grave offense. Indeed, it is treason.
In law, treason is the crime of disloyalty to one's nation or state. A person who betrays the nation of their citizenship and/or reneges on an oath of loyalty and in some way willfully cooperates with an enemy, is considered to be a traitor. Oran's Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as: "...[a]...citizen's actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation]." In many nations, it is also often considered treason to attempt or conspire to overthrow the government, even if no foreign country is aided or involved by such an endeavour. (emp mine)
And, yes, I would shoot her. And I would do it with satisfaction as a show of support for all of the brave men and women who risk thier lives everyday in battle on the real front line, while this piece of filth sat in DC and decided she, not the people's elected officials, had the authority to steer the direction of our government's battle in the war on terror.
And that is precisely what she was doing. And the journalists which published this classified information were complicit. They should be jailed.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A U.S. official told CNN on Monday that the CIA officer fired for leaking classified information was accused of a "pattern of behavior," including multiple contacts with more than one reporter.
Sources also confirmed to CNN that the officer fired last Thursday is Mary O. McCarthy, who last worked in the CIA inspector general's office.
"It's not just about one story, it's a pattern of activity," the official said.
Officials said the investigation into leaking to Dana Priest of The Washington Post, and other journalists, is ongoing. "It is not over yet," said one.

Right On Dan, Thanks. In my book, she is a traitor.

There comes a time for justifiable elimination.

New info - starting to look like McCarthy didn't even have access to the classisfied information on the CIA's secret torture facilities and wasn't the one who exposed it to the media.

BFD - so she's a traitor. If you're a Dem that means you can be the presidential nominee.
