I imagine the intercom was an attempt to keep everyone calm and from rushing the exits. I can't help but think they could see an impossible situation and to try to get everyone out was not doable. These are so sad.
I work with a woman who moved to Florida last year. She worked in One WTC.
Her coworker and dear friend ran up to their office to do her a favor and then they would later meet at the battery for lunch, that was the plan. She stood at the foot of the building as it blazed and then stepped around the corner and ran as the first building came down. Her story is incomprehensible.

Thank you for posting this Dan. It is tragic, sad, listening.

It appears as if most of the people were being reassured that help was on the way. How chilling it is to know that for many there was just no way that any help would be able to reach them, even if the buildings had not come down.

What brave, heroic men, those fire fighters were. How can anybody speak highly enough of them.

I know there are people who believe there must have been some kind of conspiracy regarding the way the buildings came down, and I think this should be addressed and the questions answered, otherwise suspicions will just grow. Why didn't those buildings hold up longer?

I think people should go on being reminded of what happened on 9/11, as it could so easily happen again, anywhere, anytime.

I can't listen to the tapes right now as my server is acting up. But I have to say that photograph of that scene you have displayed is gut-wrenching.

I agree we should be reminded of that day often. All of us can say, "Oh, yeah, I was doing such-and-such when I first heard about it.", but then we put it out of our minds. It is hard to even comprehend the horrific sadness of it all - the people caught, the firemen trying to save them, the frantic families watching it take place right before their eyes..... Yes. It is incomprehensible.

Ever walk on the Mall in DC and look at the memorials? Wow. If you can transport yourself to another time and place and sort of try to relive what you can only imagine, it is a powerful experience. I wonder if the Iraq/War on Terror Memorial will have the Twin Towers represented in any way.

Or is that asking too much?

Never forget that OBL is still out there -planning the next attack-in the name of Allah-some religion they got there. Yeah let's do business with them.

You have really been working! Thank you for tackling this for listeners everywhere. I'm sure it was a hard job.

Thanks Dan, after listening to those tapes I went to site I visted a long time ago.

Thank you for posting that Kat. I have never seen it before, and those pictures say a thousand words.

And there were children on those planes as well, and those monsters must have sat and watched them, knowing they were going to kill them. Evil beyond belief!!

Moussaoui...or however you spell the bastards name, is going to get Death.

I say hang him in NYC, right where, the Towers were... Let this be a lesson to ANY of these bastards, that AMERICA will PREVAIL and we will NEVER FORGET!

Yeah.

Let's hang Mussouai. (Or however his name is spelled.)

Let's invade Iran, I can't wait to hear the Osama excuse to invade them.

Fact is, I'm all for getting the people responsible. But are we seriously even doing that anymore? Sadaam was NOT an islamofacist. The regeime in Afghanistan that we removed has been replaced with a legitimate Islamofacist regeime who was going to kill a christian. I'm all for getting Bin Laden.. but.. can we please focus on getting Bin Laden now? We've had three years of not going after Bin Laden, and this guy here, Zach M, gets to be the _FIRST_ _PERSON_ _PUNISHED_ _FOR_ _THE_ _ATTACK_.

So here's the deal. These "bastards" are out there, planning the next attack.. and they sure as hell aren't in Iraq.

Even though the wish to put to death any Muslim who becomes a Christian is still present in the thinking of those in Afghanistan, as it is in most Muslim countries, the regime that is in power in Afghanistan at present is a million times better than when the Taliban were in power.

The Taliban have got to go down as one of the most evil regimes ever. The stoning to death of women in front of their children (who had to participate in the stoning), was a daily occurrence. The majority of the Afghans were not supporters of the Taliban, but had them imposed on them, and they were rejoicing when they were liberated by the US.

President Bush went after the terrorist training camps in Afghanistan, and he has gone into Iraq, where, if the people were left in peace by the terrorist insurgents, the Iraqi's would be well on the way to a flourishing economy and a peaceful life. Saddam Hussein was always after mass weapons of destruction, he used them on the Iraqi Kurds, so he did have them. There are still people coming out of his regime who say they were taken to Syria, and the Israeli say he had them. The Kurds are utterly grateful for their liberation from Saddam. I have spoken to a number of them here in UK, and they can't praise the US enough.

At least President Bush has tried to take the war to the terrorists, and so far the US has not had another 9/11, but there are still plenty of these evil scum bags around, it just takes the will for somebody to go find them. If it depended on the European nations, nothing at all would have been done!

Annie:

Yes, The Taliban were horrible.

And the same thing that the Taliban stood for is written right into the Afghan Constitution. Don't you see? We didn't take them out of power, we turned them into an underground political movement, which then got elected and created the Afghan Constitution.

We legitimized the use of Sharia. The story you describe , the stonings, can and DO still happen. So do the beheadings.. and the hangings. Only now we don't see it, because we're in Iraq.

Sadaam is a horrible person. But he had nothing at all to do with 9/11. Let's not pretend like going to war in Iraq has anything to do with Al Qaeda, because it doesn't. That's the problem I have. Afghanistan was great. Taking out the Taliban was good. Then, instead of going after Al Qaeda, we moved to a secularist government that had zero to do with 9/11. That gave OBL and his cronies a chance to hide. Now they could be anywhere. They could even be in your hometown.

That this hasn't happened again is not solely through our military escapades in Iraq, and the truth is, after we left Afghanistan , we did not commence a single operation against Al Qaeda. They got to rebuild. God help us when they hit us again. They've had at least three plus years of our attention being completely elsewhere.

And history will judge Bush and his crew.

****************
I had not seen this website before where the people are "frozen" as they jump out of the Towers...so sad.
Thanks for posting it, Kat.

Jarrod:

You are an ignorant fool. Saddam Hussein's Bathist regime was modern nazism and actively developed various types of WMD including, but not limited to, weaponized pox. Thousands of al Qaeda-linked people have been killed or captured.

Wonder when the left wing blogs are going to start linking to the tapes?

Fred:

Wow. What bitterness and harshness. The Iraq Survey Team found that Sadaam and his chemical makers had folded up shop as a result of the FIRST Persian Gulf war. The programs were inactive. Hans Blix was saying this before the war, and now congressional investigations are saying that now. The Britains say it, the French say it, the Germans say it, we say it.. everyone knows it. The "Weaponized Pox" that you speak of.. are you referring to Small Pox? If so, you're incorrect. The weaponized systems that Sadaam had that were biological were an anthrax offshoot. He got them when he got support against the Iranians from us, a long time ago.

One could argue that you've Godwin'd the discussion by bringing up Nazism, but .. I'll just ask this one question.

When did Al-Qaeda come into Iraq? THe answer is NOT before the war. Al-Qaeda (and believe me, it's not a large group of them) entered into Iraq when it was clear they could gain an advantage by being there. They weren't in Iraq before, in fact, it was well known in intelligence circles that Sadaam was against religious extremism.

So, where's Osama Bin Laden? You know, the guy George W Bush said "Dead or Alive." Why , four years on from 9/11 , do we only have a single conviction of someone who was responsible? In fact, Zach wasn't even responsible for 9/11, he was merely complicit. Why haven't we put ANYONE involved in the design of this plot on trial? Why haven't we even CAUGHT anyone involved with the design of this plot?

Let's be real, Fred. Let's be completely real. If the people who designed and planned the 9/11 plot are not in Iraq, and if we have not caught them, and if they are not being visibly sought, what makes you think that our actions in Iraq are preventing them from doing something else? It's only a matter of time. And just like the first time, it'll shock us when it happens, and then we'll realize that we could have stopped it all along.

BTW, before one thinks I'm an uber-leftist or something, the Republicans are going to lose in Congress this year. They are going to lose the white house in two years. When this happens, when the democrat takes over, it doesn't make us any safer. If we want to stop the people responsible, we have to stop the people responsible. We're not doing that right now.

Thanks Dan

Jarrod

I do understand what you are saying, but I would still have to say that it was better to have President Bush as your President at 9/11, than the other side, who I don't believe would have done as much as he has regarding the terrorists.

There are still people coming out of Iraq and saying that Saddam did have those weapons and they were flown to Syria.

Saddam also supported terrorism by the Palastinians against Israel. He was a very evil dictator with rape rooms and torture chambers, including the torture of children in front of their parents.

Everybody knew what was going on but nobody was willing to stop him. We all know politics is a corrupt business and the US has backed some really bad characters including Saddam at one time. It is just good to see the back of him and those Taliban, and the conditions of oppression are not anything like under the Taliban. If you ever can get to see it, try to see an independent documentary called 'The boy who played on Buddhas', to get some idea of what was going on in Afghanistan before and after the Taliban.

I personally believe though, that the real threat to the US is from the European Union who is headed by a Marxist called Javier Solana, who hardly anybody has even heard of. He is also head of the Western European Union, a ten nation federation which is a military alliance which is pledged to defend the European Union as an entitiy. He is answerable to nobody, and is probably already the most powerful man in the World and he has snuck in under everybody's noses, because not many people really know what the European Union is about. It is about a One World Government which they will openly confess to, and absolute dictatorship. Please check this out because what I am saying is true.

Annie,

If Bush wasn't in office on 9-11-01 Osma-Bin-Lodins family would not have been allowed to leave this country due to the president and his father making oil deals. They would have been detained not flown out of the country while the rest of the USA was grounded and kayoss had taken over. Nor I might add would the other party have sat in a classroom of kindergardners while the SECOND WTC was it. Bush did nothing but flee in his airplane... and load is friends on planes to their country. And saw a opprotunity to finsh what daddy has started. Because we all knew and know that the terrorists are NOT in Iraq. Listening to these 9-11 tapes breaks my heart. If Bush had not flown out Osmas family out of the country we would have more then the ONE being prosicuted for this horroric deed. And no I don't think the democrats can fix everything.... but they would have done more then Bush has.

If only Clinton had been more concerned about OBL than Monica huh?
