National Security - Dems Promise More
The Democrats have put out a position paper addressing what they would do as far as ... well, the war on terror and defense, I suppose. I doubt it will hold enough specifics to really know anything. The real hoot is that the big story is purportedly that they vow to catch Osama bin Laden. All that does is underscore their basic lack of understanding as regards the GWOT.
We all hope for bin Laden to be caught, though it's probably more up to Pakistan, or, who knows, even Iran. But cutting the head off that snake doesn't mean anything in the greater context of Islamofascism. Cut off one head, you'll only be dealing with another. It's more show than substance, which is par for the Dems course.
It'll feel so good when we catch Osama. And then what? According to the Dems we'll try him like a common criminal. Yes, that's what we need, a five year long trial with bin Laden in an American jail. Hmm, didn't they accuse Bush of stirring up the terrorists? What do you think their approach to bin Laden would do? And so what if while we're chasing him a dozen other idiots sneak in the country and blow up who knows what? Focusing on bin Laden is an all show and no substance move.
They also claim that we are going to have more spies. Huh? Forget the fact that the heart of the Democrat party is anti-war and anti-spying, their attacks on the NSA program have undermined our spying capabilities. Why try and do with manpower what you can do with technology? That makes absolutely no sense. On top of that, it was the Dems who passed regulations preventing the FBI from even cooperating with bad guys as sources some time back, do they really expect us to believe they've suddenly changed their spots? Sorry, I am not buying it.
"The Democrats are going to take back the security issue," said Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Schumer? Are you kidding me. Ironically enough on the radio this AM a guest host on WABC, a Democrat lawyer from NYC was asked his opinion of Schumer - he said he's weak. Sorry, but there's no way I am going to trust National Security to fellows like Kennedy, Schumer, Clinton, Kerry and Dean - particularly when they have done everything they can to undermine it during a time of war for no better reason than partisan politics.
Also, let's not forget that these are the same Democrats who have been in Washington for the past few years. Suddenly in an election year they finally figure things out? Wouldn't the responsible thing to do be to have come up with something they really thought was more effective right away and put it forward? They haven't offered an alternate plan for years while all they were doing was trashing Bush and running our efforts down. There is no way to view this as anything other than the empty political rhetoric it is. I can just imagine President Hillary beefing up the military and the CIA! What a joke. We'd all be facing Mecca when we pray if this group of anti-war and anti-military idiots get their way. No thanks. Mark this plan DOA.
Overall, the Democratic position paper attempts to make the case that the Bush administration's "inadequate planning and incompetent policies have failed to make Americas as safe as we should be."
It covers party policy positions on homeland security, the war on terror, the military, Iraq and energy security, but it contains many of the same proposals Democrats have offered over the past year.
The platform also lacks specific details of how Democrats plan to capture bin Laden, the al-Qaida mastermind who has evaded U.S. forces in the more than four years since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Surprise! Surprise! The Dems have promised more. Unfortunately, you may as well make that more of the same.

"...heart of the Democrat party..."
Sorry, tuned out here. I don't have time for people who leaven their attempts at serious analysis with playground taunts.
I'd gotten the idea there were grown-ups here. I'm disappointed.

According to sources on Capitol Hill, U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) punched a Capitol police officer on Wednesday afternoon after he mistakenly pursued her for failing to pass through a metal detector.

Democrats are Phonies. The Swift Boat Combat Veterans for Truth revealed John Kerry for what he was (or wasn't).
