Good for Joran and his Dad! The Twitty's will be forced to tell the truth about this case, it is about time!

I really wish this would end. Preferrably with some answers...

So much for defaulting.

Regardless of all the other aspects of this case, at least in the "battle of the rhetoric"...which is what has been dominant, it apprears to me now at least there is a level playing field with Joe T as JVDS's civil attorney. Cultural differences, language differences, US vs Aruban Law differences, lack of equal media time...all gone now in the battle of words...It will be fighting fire with fire now...It should be intersting.

You say that like you think Joran and his dad are actually going to go to court and risk being asked questions of their whereabouts with proof that they have refused to answer for months. First thing the attorney will do is try to get it dismissed. This case could go on for a very very long time just in civil court.
I hope the VDS family finally tell the truth.
Posted by: Skye | Thursday, March 02, 2006 at 06:49 PM
Just what i was hoping for, this is exactly what Joran needs a high profile American lawyer.
Posted by: ripley | Thursday, March 02, 2006 at 06:50 PM
Bring it on!!! I smell lawsuits. Joe T. is really a good attorney. He can fight just as dirty as the Twittys. And, the TH's really like and respect his opinion.

Dan,
How did the other blogs get this news before you did? Usually , I read everything here first.
Also , I want to commend you on getting the news and posting it so quickly. Good job.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOO!
I wanna see JQK, and JT go at it in prime time.
JT is going to WIPE the floor with JQK......
JT is the Donald Trump of civil-defense lawyers......
JQK, is like the PEEWEE Herman, of civil-laywers....
Posted by: Donna | Thursday, March 02, 2006 at 06:58 PM
Bigfish, I'm sure John Q. Kelly would laugh at a comment like that. Joe T. is nothing compared to him. JQK has some tricks up his sleeve, we'll just have to wait and see.

u guys got to be kidding. If Nancy Grace and the women of Court TV can make Tacopina crumble, i dont think John Q will have a tough time. He's a toy train. just watch how he stutters on TV, will he be able to handle John Q? I dont think so.

What does your third personality have to say about this?
Posted by: CARRY NATION | Thursday, March 02, 2006 at 08:05 PM
"Meet Joe Tacopina
Criminal defense attorney Joe Tacopina will represent Joran Van Der Sloot in his upcoming civil case. Tacopina is the famed attorney who has represented clients like New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, John Gotti associates..."
Oh great. This kid has got a freaking *mob* lawyer? And I don't know why people are accusing him of being a lightweight--his resume looks fairly heavy. Where did Joran find the money for this guy? Why did he find the money for this guy? This case just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Beth consorts with bags of dirt like Mamano, Joran goes out and hires a guy who's repped the Gotti family.
Who is Joran Van der Sloot that he can suddenly afford this kind of legal firepower?

I fail to see your reference. Perhaps you should explain your accusation if that is your intention?

I think that they are both pitbulls and it should be interesting. I am suprised that Joran got a pitbull like Joe T. I wonder if Joe T. made Joran take a lie detector test before he took the case. Does anyone know if he made any comments about this case?
Posted by: Kelly3 | Thursday, March 02, 2006 at 09:23 PM
I hope Joe is doing the work pro bono. Joran deserves to be represented by an attorney who knows the law and doesn't drink the HMI koolaid.
I do so hope that Beth has to end up paying Joran's parents for all her lies and fraudulant claims.

OK, Beth is not a " suspect" in any crime.
Beth did not put J2K in jail. Or let him out.
Secondly,it is the VDSs who have to respond to the affidavit.
From what I understand, the question is:
Juristiction ...
Then who knows.....

I'm getting the feeling Greta believes Deepak is the guilty one. This sort of goes with what Joran said in his radio interview which i found here - http://joranvandersloot.blogspot.com/2006/02/joran-goes-on-record-we-just-got-back.html

I'm watching the interview right now and Joran seems very nervous....he's sipping his water bottle like it's going out of style!

Listened to the Van Sustran interview. Something is certainly wrong with this picture. Joran never showed much emotion, never talked to his friends that were with him that night about the case other than the the story they made up so called. What, does this sound normal to you?? I smell a rat. Will some one please find out the truth this is getting pretty sad. Those boy's were definitely involved no but's about it. His body language tonight was to smoothe I do not buy the story.

If the State of New York agrees to let this case be brought forward in its jurisdiction, I'd bet the first thing that is going to happen is a gag order is going to be ordered on both camps. If not, if you thought the MJ trial was a circus, this trial is going to blow your mind. JQ Kelly and his sidekick Bo Deitl vs Joe T. and his entourage, it will be interesting.

Joran should take a polygraph because the needle would never move.Remember he said he could fool the polygraph.I believe that, not an emotion in that boy.

What this means is that the VDS clan will fight the lawsuit.
The VDS must have US assests.....they could have easily defaulted and never pay a cent in damages. They have US assests
Joe Tacopina is not in the same league as John Q Kelly. Note that Tacopina is a CRIMINAL DEFENSE atty...not a CIVIL TRIAL lawyer. In a high-profile case like this...I want a good civil attorney.
Tacopina's last high-profile case was defending the two bodyguards of Michael Jackson who were being charged for kidnapping the alleged molestation victims. Charges there were eventually dropped. But,he was their criminal lawyer.
Tacopina's hiring does signify that this case has merit, NY has jurisdiction, and looks like it will go at least to the depo phase

What is it to any body business where Joran got the money to hire this lawyer, when Beth got all her lawyers nobody asked questions where the money came from???. As far as I'am concerned they need more money my account is at their disposition, I can spend my money the way I'am pleased!!!. and so can they!!
Posted by: nelson | Friday, March 03, 2006 at 06:12 PM
It's about time Juron gets his dues. Natalee's dissappearnce is a tradegy, but to ruin another persons life is unacceptable. The Twitte's have created very bad karma and I hope it comes back to bite them. It reminds me of another family of 5 years ago when the Levy's ruined Condit's life without provication. I pray Joe T. can get some justice for Joran.
