High Profile Threat Risk For Iraq

It appears as though Al Qaeda has something in mind in their on going attempt to bring about a civil war in Iraq.

(CBS/AP) U.S. officials tell CBS News that intelligence has picked up reports that al Qaeda in Iraq is planning what one source calls the "Big Bang," a spectacular terrorist attack in Iraq against either a single high-profile target or multiple targets simultaneously.

It will be a simultaneous hit, preceded immediately by a "smoke screen" ploy. These guys have gone from throwing rocks to using trained snipers with a quality weapon, and from a guy standing next to the road with a couple of wires ready to connect when the next target drives by to using cell phones to detonate the IEDs. Still primitive with respect to modern technology, but they have a lot of martyrists on hand and now one of the most potent and effective weapons available: civil war. The two main factions, the Sunnis and the Shiites will fight to the end. All this with the US military right in the middle. Gonna be a great subject for a book. I doubt there will never be a closing chapter.
