This is a bit of good news. Four Iraqi soldiers were killed, which suggests the Iraqis had the lead in this battle, supported by the US. One of the insurgents terrorists was from Syria. If nothing else, a new batch of dirt bags to try and get some intel. As long as we're nice to them, of course.
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Insurgents attacked a police station Wednesday for a second day in a row, but U.S. and Iraqi forces captured 50 of them after a two-hour gunbattle.
About 60 gunmen attacked the police station in Madain, south of Baghdad, with rocket-propelled grenades and automatic rifles, said police Lt. Col. Falah al-Mohammadawi. U.S. troops and a special Iraqi police unit responded, catching the insurgents in crossfire, he said.

Coincidence?
Operation Swarmer bags dozens of "insurgents"
Iran wants to "talk" to U.S.
Iraqi police station attacked in military style raid, prisoners released
Hmmmmmm.....who could have been among those prisoners??? Does the MSM care?

We haven't seen fit to equip the Iraqi's with the same protective equipment we have, such as it is. Their body armor, when they have it, is obsolete and their vehicles are completely unarmored (vans & pickups); not mostly unarmored like ours (Humvees). It's not surprising that in joint operations, they (Iraqi police and defense forces) take higher and more serious casualities. It says nothing about who's in charge. Neither does finding a single syrian among fifty insurgents.
Columbo: what are you getting at here? Iran staged the raid? We staged the raid? For MSM to care, they need a story...not conspiracy musings.

It just amazes me that people still believe anything this administration says about military operations in Iraq. How many Number 3 Operatives have been captured? How many insurgents? What was the body count in Viet Nam?
When the facts come out, that these "insurgents" are a bunch of cab drivers, how will you make an appropriate correction?
Posted by: masaccio | Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 06:29 PM
right....and IED attacks are backfires from cab exhaust

Oh, right....and that eight TONS of explosives, IEDs, and weapons found a few days ago..... that was for the school kids.
Jeff how do you know the Iraqi frontliners haven't the proper armor on a mission? Got any stats to offer up for each mission they've been on with our soldiers?
Funny....there was a time when no Iraqis were fighting. It was just we Americans out there figting for them.

I think Jeff heard that on 'the news'

Actually jeff just retired as a colonel after 28 years in the Air Force and has had several friends and colleagues in theater at any given time in the last 3 years. He doesn't just "hear things on the news". Grow up, Columbo. Just because you want something to be true, doesn't make it so.

So, Colonel,
Then perhaps you could back up your assertions about the Iraqis poor armor, then? Tell us what your buds over in theater have to say about the Iraqi frontliners.

Why should he have to back up an assertion that's obviously true? I mean US forces are the best equipped, best armored in the world. I doubt very much Iraqis have a similar capacity after only two years or so of build up. I also doubt that they are spending the type of cash we do on our soldiers since they don't have it. Why is his assertion about the Iraqi armor so hard to believe? My brother got back this year and it certainly jives with his descriptions of Iraqi forces.

Phoenix:
What do my buds overseas say? They say they spent their entire tour trying not to get themselves or the troops they are responsible for killed. They say many of the iraqi troops they've worked with are courageous and patriotic and hideously underequipped. They say other iraqi troops and police, equally underequipped, show far more allegience to tribal ties than any national goals. This makes my buds very anxious and, at times, makes them feel that we are wasting our time, treasure, and blood. They say they are glad Hussein has been removed from power but wish folks would get on with the trial and the inevitable execution so that there is no chance that after we leave this mess, he is not reinstated in any position of power. So, phoenix, what do your buds overseas say?
