Accepting Debra Lafave's plea agreement would undermine the credibility of the criminal justice system and "erode public confidence in our schools," Marion County Circuit Judge Hale Stancil wrote.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys had urged the judge to accept the deal for the sake of the boy involved. A psychiatrist who examined the teenager told the judge at a previous hearing that the boy suffered extreme anxiety from the intense media coverage surrounding the case and does not want to testify. here
Too bad she didn't have one of those judges in the news recently for giving child rapists parole. There really seems to be no national continuity at all within this area of the law. So much for this, I believe.

The case was dismissed?? Wow! That's all I gotta say.... Wow!

Does this mean that the next time a woman is raped, but says to the cops, 'I was raped but don't worry about pressing charges, I am OK', that the guy should be able to just walk away without any punishment. Wise up, this guy is a rapist, and if he gets the chance there is a good bet he will do it again. Same with this sicko woman, however, not so stupid maybe, 'cause I bet that soon she will be laughing all the way to the bank, once she has gotten the media attention she wants and they are willing to pay her whatever. Perhaps they will even let her be the star of the movie! Who says crime does not pay!

The victim would have to testify at a trial, and he was going to do that - so the perp should be allowed to go scot free.
That's our Constitution, that's our country. No matter how upset you may be about it, it is the price we pay.
