I joked about David Gregory covering something up here. Now, possibly as a result of inside the beltway hardball political manueverings, it looks like even if he isn't, Gregory is going to have to do some damage control to his reputation, or possibly risk being dismissed from NBC. That is the type of question the press was relentlessly asking when recently going after Cheney, yes?
Unless, of course, they don't mind their reporters going live on the air drunk. It's being reported that Gregory called into the Imus show from India today in that condition. Too bad I missed the show, I might have more to add, but I can't stand the liberal bias to the sometimes funny radio show.
Ok, let me add to the rumor mill about David Gregory. A good friend of mine, who lives in the Del Ray area of Alexandria, VA, swears David Gregory randomly knocked on his door late one night, and then ran off. According to my friend, he (Gregory) was very drunk.
This Imus story makes me wonder if it is only a rumor. Maybe the guy has a real problem??? Again, I cannot confirm this. But my friend swears by it…

Pat O'Brien survived.
Whose story is this anyway?

Why has he waited? why has he refused to give a press conference....to clear it up.....to get the truth out there to the American people?
Posted by: COLUMBO | Thursday, March 02, 2006 at 05:04 PM
NBC is denying he was drunk. They attribute it to the typical Imus schtick and that Gregory was a part of the gag. I wish somehow we can find out for sure. But the fix is in.

I still like David Gregory - he is great as a reporter and he was also great when he appeared on the Today Show in place of Lauer. If he has a drinking problem, certainly GWB should understand and see that he gets a free pass. I would hate to see him dumped by NBC and castigated by this sorry administration. I personally do not need to have David appear in a press conference doing a mea culpa.

I like the Bush drunk video better. You can see it here

Thank goodness Jesus saved him.

I heard it on the Imus show this morning. I dont think David was drunk. He just had a laughing fit. I think in response to Bernard's excellent imitation of Mayor Ray Nagin. Gregory had to follow that and he couldnt stop laughing.

He needs to come clean with the American people. This cloud of secrecy is just covering up his incompetence. He needs to explain what happened, why he waited, yada, yada.....

How do you know? Do you work at NBC or live in his neighborhood or socialize with him?

You were referring to Cheny weren't you?

What happened to get the facts first and not spread rumors. Sounds like MSM reporting to me!

I was watching Imus this AM and was suprised by Gregory's laughing fit or whatever it was.
I don't think he was 'in' on a scheme with the Imus show and his hysterics are what started the schtick.
It was a first time for me to see, ok hear, a top reporter going off the proverbial page.
Ever since Dan Rather's "What's the frequency Kenneth." anyway.

True-but I can't say I blame Cheney-the press has treated him unfairly....love how he accidentally shoots someone and then it becomes symptomatic of how this administration has secretly dealt with Hallibuton, mislead us into war for oil, blown a hole in the deficit in a giveaway to the wealthiest 1% who don't need it and don't want it, etc, etc
As far as Gregory-HE needs to not wait, come clean with the American people, stop using a veil of secrecy to hide his incompetence, and have a press conference. Was he drinking or wasn't he? Is he having an affair????? Who was he really with??? The American people are entitled to the truth.

I listen to the show and watch it sometimes. He was lets be kind "out of sorts today". He usually has kind of a rap that he goes back and forth with Imus but today maybe he had a bad ice cube or something. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I liked David Bloom much better when he was the one that called in. I think Gregory goes or tries to hard to be funny. But today I must say was funny.

Dan, hubby heard it this morning. Said he did sound a bit off, could he be sick and on medication of some kind?

Oh please!!! Don't insult the distinguished ranks of "Literary Drunkenhood," of which such Giants and Masters of the pen, such as Ernest Hemingway, O. Henry, John Dos Passos, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Charles R. Jackson and other geniuses have been prominent luminaries, by comparing this poor, embittered, hack, a "writer" and a "drunk"! It is insolent to put those two words together in the same sentence when referring to this poor excuse of a "White House Press Corp Piranha" for a journalist!!!
On a more conciliatory note, perhaps it would help clear him up and do him good, if he went out into the Great Outdoors more, and enjoyed a sport, instead of being in the Washington sewers 24/7, with a bottle in his hand, ravenously following the scent of any "whiff" of “effluent” from the White House!
Perhaps Vice President Cheney should be "Magnanimous," and setting aside all hard feelings about the vicious and unfair treatment he has often received at Gregory’s hands, have the kindness to invite him to go "Quail Hunting" with him one of these days in Texas... and just make sure to carry an elephant gun with him this time, with cartridges packed with much bigger caliber pellets, than his usual shotgun and birdshot!!!
LMAO!

Why?
Posted by: Bella | Friday, March 03, 2006 at 02:07 PM
I'll bet alcohol had nothing to do with it. Am I the only person here who lived through the 60s and 70s? I heard the Gregory tape, and my immediate reaction was, "He's stoned!" The giggles, losing track of a sentence half-way through it -- he exhibited all the classic symptoms. Probably some of that fine Nepalese hashish.
