"Former U.S. Senator Paul Simon once said of the tragic 1994 genocide in Rwanda: “If every member of the House and Senate had received 100 letters from people back home saying we have to do something about Rwanda, when the crisis was first developing, then I think the response would have been different.”


What. He hadn't the conscience or brains to figure it out for himself. Why the hell to we put these asses in the position of being able to DO something if we have to send thousands of post cards to remind them what their job is.

Not that I disagree with the whole premise of jogging the consciences of these guys, but for crying out loud. 180,000 die and our senatuh goes to lunch and for a quick nap afterwards before he goes back to the house to whine about roads in his state?
