Against Dave's wishes she allowed this hoilday with the MB party crew (Not the Honors crowd)where booze was all included. There has been a major breakthrough in the Natalee Holloway case. The family seems to be listening to new counsel. Natalee's disappearance has been to many Americans a source of deep sorrow and anger. In New York a wrongful death lawsuit has been opened naming a number of principals in the allegations. The case seems to a number of experts and to me to contain sufficient merit to survive a motion for summary judgment, although two or three changes of venue will be required.

A few nights ago a gaggle of TV commentators and law professors were beating their gums trying to understand why Natalee's parents would even bother. They missed it. Of course nobody sees it. It is a stroke of genius. How? Here is how it works.

Winston Churchill notified us that truth must be shielded by a bodyguard of lies. Lies have a purpose. If there is a truth to be concealed, often a series of different stories in rapid succession will be issued by suspects to keep investigators attention directed away from truth. Interestingly, the Holloway case features a rapid series of different even mutually exclusive and contradictory accounts of Natalee's disappearance. Now, if the principals in the case telling conflicting stories did not know where Natalee is, or who has control of her currently, there is a simple and safe remedy available to them---tell one story only---the truth. Conversely, if it turns out the suspects do know her whereabouts or controllers, then they have an incentive to tell fibs to protect collaborators. Therefore it follows necessarily in my mind that bringing principals under oath into a competent jurisdiction will in this case at least induce witnesses to tell the truth.

You might say, "Are you so naive as to believe that people will be truthtellers here?" There you are, see! You missed it a second time. Just like all the talking heads.

O.K. What's the clue? If a wrongful death action is brought in a genuinely competent jurisdiction, all the principals need to do is to produce the girl and the case becomes moot. Reworded, a wrongful death action and the return of the victim is a contradiction in terms. Then one of two things happen: Somebody makes Natalee show up and the suspects go free OR Natalee doesn't show up which tells you something you really don't know now---which is that the suspects don't know about Natalee as they claim, or alternatively that they have no real influence over any collaborators they might have. Therefore the case simply moves forward to an American jury---not a comforting prospect.

I have a prediction. When it happens I plan to remind everyone who has been certain without evidence that Natalee is deceased, so undermining a timely investigation.
Here it is:
If the wrongful death suit is allowed to proceed in a competent American jurisdiction, I predict that right before the case is sent to the jury, Natalee will show up. She will not be discovered, found, located, rescued, recovered, or "saved". She will simply be returned by her captors. Only then will the genius of the recent legal move become fully understood.
